Sims 3 expansion installation issues
Basically- Bought the Sims 3 Pets, once bought something to do with The Sims began to install so I assumed it was the said expansion. Once it had finished installing and I had already diverted away from the option to install the newly purchased content, I opened the Sims 3 Launcher and the Pets expansion isn't actually installed? I even registered it on the Sims 3 website and it hasn't highlighted the little Pets icon along the bottom of the Launcher screen. Also opened the game and that confirmed the non-existent installation. Somebody.. Halp?

Unfortunetly, This is Steam's fault. It's been happening for the last week or 2. There is no way to fix it as of now, but you could switch to Origin. I'm sorry you fell into this stupid trap Steam set up, as have hundreds of people (including myself). Steam should fix it soon, but don't get your hopes up.

Ugh this is ridiculous. I've seen now all the other threads to do with the exact same problem. This is seriously out of order and generally irritating.

Temp Fix...

I hopped on steam after I got my Sims games running using Origin and noticed that Weasley Pipes beat me to the steps. I am still going to post mine on here due to the rough translation that his steps had. Hopefully these are a bit easier to understand. If you have any questions feel free to comment below. Hope this works for everyone else too.

Step 1: Right Click The Sims3 Then click "Register Your Game..." Make an account and enter your Sims3 Cd-Keys (Can be found under same right click option under "View CD-Key"
Step 2: (OPTIONAL) Uninstall The Sims3 by Right clicking it in the Steam Launcher and Click "Delete Local Data"
Step 3: Download and Install Origin (I know Origin sucks)
Step 4: Install all the games through Origin (This allows you to also purchase and play the games that cannot be found on Steam.)
Step 5: (Confirmed) I've read that you can bypass Origin launcher by just going to your install directory and and just boot The Sims3

EDIT: The Sims3 Saves its games in "C:\Users\"Name"\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves"

I am having the same problem as mclarky96, but with Ambitions instead of World Adventures. What needs to be done to fix this?

It's basically a massive issue with most of expansions. Everyone is getting the same problem, which I hope is hugely embarrassing for the Steam services as they STILL haven't resolved it all. I contacted the support service and they literally just replied saying "We're working on resolving the issue.." and clearly they're doing a great job.

If you download origin you can just enter your product codes and redownload everything from them and it works fine. I gave up and did this and it's workin fine.

My codes don't work on origin- It just tells me to register my games on the Sims website.. Which I've already done.

ok my problem is that I have bought ALL my sims 3 games on steam, and I bought barnical bay on amazon...I have the code. I registered it on my sims3 site. The stupid launcher can't seem to download anything at all, none of my stupid store content, not barnical bay, not riversdale or whatever it was I got... I"m currently having origin download all my games, it found them all instantly... I just have to download them.. =( I'm not sure if I'll ever get barnical bay to work because I chose to buy all my games on steam (they had a huge sale a year ago or so where I spent $80 and I got 10 expansion packs/stuff.... I had lost my sims 3 so it would have cost me 30+ to buy the base game anyways... so it was very worth it to me.. I got more packs then I had. I"m so sick and tired of all this steam/sims3/origin complications. How hard is this really it's a one player game. You don't even really need internet when you play it!
