Sims 3 Expansion Packs Problem

A lot of you have bought Expansion Packs, and have it not showing up on the launcher. I have the same problem. Today, I purchased Sims 3 Pets, and it says I own it, but it didn't show up, and still stayed on the screen from when I got Generations a while back. There's no way you can fix it. A lot of people have already tried deleting it, and installing it again, and that doesn't work. I believe Steam is trying to find a way, so you're just going to have to be patient, and wait, and understand that Steam is doing the best that they can. But, I'm glad to understand that I'm not the only one having this problem. Don't un-install it, because it won't do anything. I guess if you bought Expansion Packs today, it just didn't co-operate. But, I'm sure they'll fix it as soon as they can.

Steam are currently offering a package of TS3 and Showtime, so I bought it, imagine my surprise that it does not work and Steam have known about this problem for a while now! I have paid good money for this content and nowhere does it state on the Store page that I won't be able to access it (without going to Origin). It seems it won't do much good but I have logged a ticket anyway. I am very angry and disappointed - I'm a new Steam user and Steam came highly recommended by friends. Their sale of content we cannot use (without any warning of the issues) is highly suspect.

I dont know how to move to origon and have the expantion packs on it someone plz help

I'm also trying to move my game and it's expansions to my second computer and finding all of the expansions greyed out (as well as being unable to locate my saves to copy over). Its a little disheartening to see this topic is several months old. Has anyone found a solution yet?

Guys, I had this problem when I first downloaded the Sims. If you download origin, it works perfectly, no problems. It's a bit annoying but once they're all downloaded it works great

yesterday i bought sims 3 generations and its not registering on the sims launch. i also have pets, seasons, and town life but those ones registered. i dont know why generations isnt working but yesterday i sent an email to customer support to try and fix it. im hoping they reply asap, plus i even sent pictures with my proof of purchase and a picture of the launch saying that its not registered.

i cant believe how old this issue is, but i really wish some of the other people that have had this problem since october would come back to this thread and give us an update on whats happened to them since then.. although i assume nothing happened but i really hope not. but im planning on coming back to this thread when i get a reply from steam.

also if it helps i have a windows 8 laptop, i know its not listed as one of the system requirements to play sims or the expansion packs but i was able to run everything else perfectly so i feel like that isnt the reason :S

ALSO i have tried to install origin on my laptop. for some reason i can download it but whenever i try and launch the set up nothing happens, like ill click on it to open and it doesnt respond. so thats not an option for me it seems

Yup in the same boat. I had Pets and Gen and they were showing up just fine. I recently purchased Ambitions and no luck in it showing up in the launcher. Last night, I removed all traces of The Sims 3 from my computer and redownloaded it... now ALL MY EXPANSIONS no longer show in the launcher.

I currently have an open helpdesk ticket with Steam CS. Can't really help you much with Origin, though I'm about to download it now.

aw that really sucks sorry to hear :( im hoping if i wait a few days it will show up. i found this other forum i forget where, and i believe this other person was having the same problem as us but after 4 days it showed up! so maybe it takes a long time to process if that makes sense? im really hoping thats the case because i can live with that (even though steam should warn us of this kind of ♥♥♥♥ happening on the sims page, at least thats what i think)

Well, if you registered your serial, then download the game from origin (it'll already register that you bought it, if you use the same account for sims and origin so you won't have to pay any additional money) it works perfectly fine. Sad to have to go that route, but I couldn't get the game to work any other way for my wife's account. Hope this helps someone!

I GOT IT TO WORK!!!!!
if your computer wont let you install origin (like me) or if you dont want to, go to Steam > Settings > Change to the Steam Beta Update

I just bought Generations this morning and when I opened my launcher, I saw absolutely nothing, go to play - nothing. As if I never bought it at all. I did register the EP with EA and it didn't do anything. I'm really lost.

Origin is horrible and takes FOREVER to download... I'm canceling that and trying the beta

If you change your steam client to beta it works!

The beta seems to have fixed things for me as well. Dodged a bullet there.
