The Sims™ 3

Odd problem with this game on new computer.
Hello, I recently built a new gaming PC. When I boot up The Sims 3 I hear a strange, fairly high pitch but not too loud noise coming from it, and it only occurs during The Sims 3. I have played many games over the past week or so and do not hear this sound during any other game, or anything else. No performance issues with my PC so far.

Also, the pitch of it changes based on what is happening in the game. When it goes from the initial loading screen to the menu, the pitch of the sound changes slightly. If I go to the options menu, it will change again, etc.

Does anyone else have this issue, and do you know what it might be/how to fix it?

Here are the parts of my computer, if it matters:

ASRock 970 Extreme3 Motherboard
AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core CPU
Radeon HD 7970
G.Skill Ripjaw 2x4GB DDR3-1600 RAM
WD Caviar Blue 1TB HDD
Cooler Master HAF 912 Case

The noise you are hearing is called "coil whine" from your radeon 7970. This is a well known and documented issue on 7970's even mine does it.. and it will vary depending on the load the vid card is experiencing. There is no way to fix this other than to RMA your 7970 and hope the next one doesnt whine as bad.. but as I said they all pretty much do it.

Alright, I find it strange that one of the least demanding games I have played on it so far is the only one to do it. I almost always use headphones so it's not much of an issue. I have avoided playing this game as a result, do I have anything to worry about or is it still fine to play?
