I can't play households anymore...????

The last sims update ruined my game i think. Ever since the last sims update, whenever i try to move in a household, choose a household, or change households from the edit town menu, it will select the family but the checkmark to start playing as them stays grayed out. I've tried copying my town, but that still didn't work.

It's Via Discolvo and I've been creating sims to populate the town so I really don't want to delete the town.

Any idea what to do? Please? My game is basically unplayable now. :'(

sounds extremely odd.. do you have mods ? mods could be out of date.

i've never downloaded any mods myself but i've downloaded a lot of sims from the exchange that had special skins and custom content...does that have anything to do with it? cause i know how mods really ♥♥♥♥ with updates.

well game seems to load find, its a cc issue . how bad is the household you want to play.. are you willing to delete all your download cc then try?

my best bet is you either go threw the launcher and delete all the cc you dont want . if this doesnt help .. go to documents/electronic arts/sims 3/ dcbackup and delete them all .. it might suck lossing all your cc but you can download a lot of it again, from safer sites than the exchange (NEVER USE THE EXCHANGE )

yeah the game itself loads fine, its just when i choose any household, it stays grayed out. Ughh...I really don't want to, but the only cc i actually used were the skin tones. Sighh, but I guess I have to if I want to actully play again.

Alright, I'll uninstall everything then check if it works again. Wish me luck :0

good luck , if you wanna cc skin, you should use a package one (mods) theses types of mods dont have to be updated every patch .. i never updated my hair cc / skin cc/ eyes cc ..for awhile now

it worked! all of my sims turned pitch black though cause I hd to delete the skins lol...where can I get the skins? Any mod site good?

for skins you probably want default replacement

this has default eyes (might want new eyes) , skins, .. but you probably be looking for a bit for a skin / eyes you like

Don't EVER download anything from The Exchange. They have lots of CC which will cause all manner of problems in your game. I learned that the hard way and ended up having to delete all CC from my game and starting over from scratch. The Sims Resource has better CC which won't corrupt your game.

You should not over download mods cause you can get bad mods with bad glitches happened to me . I started over cause I had a bad save. You click edit town on the options to change household but they will lose their lifetime stuff so I made a second save

Nevermind. Still won't let me play households. :/ *sigh*

I've deleted pretty much all the CC I have except a few houses, some worlds, and the patterns won't delete for some reason. Guess when you said all of it, you meant all of it. :(
Should I delete my store bought items as well? And should I delete all the families in my bin and saves I've made? Because I've been pretty much using CC with all of them...:/

I am having the same issue, and i have no CC only store bought items....it was all working a while ago and now nothing.

celestialokami, you might try this troubleshooting FAQ. Basically, just start at the top and work down. The top part, "resetting your game", is the most helpful bit. It will let you determine if the game has a problem, or the problem is in your saves or custom content.
