Japanese Language Support

Is there a way to get Japanese Language support? My girlfriend might be interested in this game but Japanese is her first language. I don't see it on the list on the store page. Is there some way to enable it?

I know I answer kind of late but hey, thanks to the magic of google search someone might ends here and ask "how do I do" so it still might be helpful ; here's a tip :

Change the language in the Windows Registry
Please only change stuff in the registery if you feel qualify to do so. Changing the wrong values can mess up your game and/or Windows.

RegisteryLocale

Start the registry editor with regedit
Backup the registry with File – Export
Click on the arrow next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click on the arrow next to SOFTWARE
64-Bit Systems: Click on the arrow next toWOW6432NODE
Click on the arrow next to SIMS
Click on The Sims 3
Double-click on Locale on the right-hand side
Change the value to the language you want your game in (values see below)
I don’t know if the value under Country needs changing too. Mine is set to CH and I play in English and I have no issues.
Repeat 6-10 for all folders in SIMS (Expansions)
Close the registry editor.
Start the game. Your user files, including saves will be gone now as if you’ve renamed the user folder.
Close the game and go to documents\electronicArts. You should have two folder in here now. One in your old language and one in the new one. To recover your old savegames and user files, simply copy the files from the old language over to the new one.
Start the game. All your old saves and user data will be back.

En français : activer le japonais sur Les Sims 3. Attention, ça ne peut pas fonctionner sur la version Steam. En tout cas pas sur la mienne. La solution pour les versions steam est plus bas. Si vous possédez une autre version, vous pouvez toujours essayer :

(attention : il faut avoir lancé le jeu au moins une fois ! Sinon vous ne trouverez pas les fichiers à modifier)

1 : faites démarrer / entrez "regedit" (sans les guillemets)
2 : allez dans HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
3 : ouvrez le dossier SOFTWARE
4 : (optionnel, dépend de votre système) allez dans WOW6432NODE
5 : trouvez le dossier Sims3(Steam) (ou Sims 3, etc. ça dépend de votre version)
6 : éditez le fichier "locale" (sans les guillemets) : clic droit / modifier / replacez le contenu par le code correspondant à la langue de votre choix.
Pour le japonais, le code est ja-JP
7 : modifier le fichier "country" et remplacez FR par JP
8 : (optionnel) si vous avez des extensions, faites la même chose dans les sous-dossiers correspondant aux extensions.

SECOND METHOD / DEUXIEME METHODE
Steam versions

Ok, this is how I did success to put my Steam version of the game in japanese. You need to download a software called Any Game Starter 3.

You can find it here : http://nene.modthesims.info/download.php?t=406814

You need to register on the website (it's free, there is no e-mail confirmation). Then, download the version 2.0 of the software. Even if they say this one isn't Steam compatible, it is. The lastest versions didn't work for me.

- download Any Game Starter 3 version 2.0
- extract the content of the folder
- start and install Any Game Starter 3
- launch the software.
- you'll get an error message "couldn't find Sims 3", do you want to close blah blah blah ? Say no.
- once you're in the software window, click on "add profile"
- click on "show advanced options"
- the executable path is empty. Click on "browse". Here should be your game : C:/program files/Steam/Steamapps/common/The Sims 3/Game/Bin/TS3.exe
- Select "japanese" language (or another one)
- (optional) rename your profile
- click on "ok"
- double-click on your profile
- enjoy !

TUTO : les sims 3 version steam en japonais

En français : Voilà comment j'ai réussi à faire passer ma version Steam des Sims 3 en japonais. Vous allez avoir besoin d'un logiciel appelé Any Game Starter 3.

Vous devez vous inscrire (register), c'est gratuit, rapide et ne nécessite (Dieu merci) pas de confirmation d'e-mail. Ensuite, retournez sur la page du logiciel. Cliquez sur l'onglet "files". Plusieurs versions du logiciel vont alors être disponibles. 9 en tout. Choisissez la version 2.0, les versions plus récentes n'ont pas fonctionné pour moi.

- téléchargez Any Game Starter 3 version 2.0
- extraire le contenu du dossier
- lancez et installez Any Game Starter 3
- lancez le logiciel
- vous allez avoir un message d'erreur "couldn't find sims 3" "do you want to..." on s'en fout, répondez non.
- une fois que vous êtes dans le logiciel, cliquez sur "add profile"
- le chemin de l'exécutable est vide. Cliquez sur "browse". Voilà où devrait se trouver votre jeu : C:/program files/Steam/Steamapps/common/The Sims 3/Game/Bin/TS3.exe
- sélectionnez "japanese" dans la liste des langages
- (optionnel) renommez votre profil
- cliquez sur "ok"
- vous revoilà dans la fenêtre d'accueil du logiciel. Double-cliquez sur votre profil.
- tadaaa !
