I believe it is only a 1 way system HOWEVER it could be worth trying to add your CD key to the "Activate game on steam" option under games at top and see what happens, no promises but I think only steam can add to Origin for expansion packs but as I say worth a shot to see if it lets you

Yes & NO.
You can buy the DLC or Expansions and Activate on Origin without issue. However, in oprder to do so you must own the base Sims 3 game on STEAM in order to view the CD Key and purchase it.

I had it and play it on Origin as well, this game just works better there IMHO.
But, during the Big winter sale I just bought base game here for future DLC sales. It will end up being cheaper buying the base game on steam so you can get discounted expansion in the long run, but wether youre willing to do that is your call.

Bus the short answer to your question..
YES ... But you need the base game on Steam.

You can NOT buy at EA/Origin and activate on Steam though.

I have a retail copy of Sims 3 (registered on Origin), and was wondering similar. If I buy Sims 3 on Steam and DLC... do I have to make another account? Do I lose my stuff I bought with SimPoints in the shop? Ugh. I understand everyone's frustrations with this.. and it really makes no sense to make it so complicated!!!

The problem with this is steam wont' let you buy the expansions unless you own the base game here, so no is the answer. If you do own the base game here though, you CAN buy the expansions and register them on origin.

For the price off what the base game costs and what you save if you buy a few expansions via the sale you actually save a lot more and OFCOURSE allows you to buy future cheap expansions as and when they become avalible.

Paying somthing twice I agree is crap pardon my french BUT I think the benefits outway the cons however is up to the individueal person to reconise those benefits and/or cons and IF that person will be buying more in the sales at future times,

This FLASH sale will probably happen again in march or end of Febuary AS university comes out, I suspect this midweek sale is due to the release of the stuff pack 70s 80s and 90s pack which I THINK is due for release Friday

Surely if the problem is about getting the code because it wont let you buy the DLC on steam unless you have the game, can't you gift the game to get round that?

You can't use it on Steam, but you can just activate the product keys you bought on Steam on Origin and download them from there instead.

Wait^^ To clarify then you're saying you CAN just buy the DLC's, ON Steam and then activate them ON Origin?

Only if you own the base game on steam.

Right, you have to have the base game on steam.
But Origin will take all the DLC/Expansion keys.

NO. You will not loose anything or need a new account. All you will use on Origin (assuming you're playing Sims3 through Origin) are the Keys for the Expansions and Stuff Packs.

You will not need the Key for the base game.
Essentially, buying the base game in steam just allows you take advantage of future sales for expansion.

Also, if you do something like buy the Base game+Pets combo, you can register just the pets exapnsion in Origin.
So for those wanting to do this, and do not have Pets or Showtime and would like them, buy the combo. You can redeem just the bonus expansion as there are 2 seperate keys in the bundle.
You get the expansion to redeem on Origin+ the base game in Steam which allows you to buy any SIms 3 DLC and redeem on Origin in the future.

I got the sims 3 on steam but got a few expansions on origin when they went on sale. Works fine for me.

That's the opposite of what he asked as well.
