Registering Sims3 CD key at Origin
I bought sims3 this past weekend on sale on steam.I signed up online for the profile to keep track of my play and to earn the sim points to unlock game items.Every time i try to register the game i get an invalid key red screen.Im using the CD key from the library page and i just bought the game, how is this invalid? Is there a trick? I can still play the game but i want full access to earn points and unlock items.

On EA games made before a certain year <can't remember exactly> or games that won't register through the Origin client you need to use this website to activate. I found that after playing The Sims 3 through Steam and logging into my EA account they added it automatically to my Origin library.

I had trouble registering my games when I signed up online too. Two of them were my fault - so check if you're typing them correctly. The remaining codes somehow worked when I tried to register them the next day, so hopefully it's just something that happens with fresh codes. Good luck!

I registered them fine just go on to the launcher and it will direct you to a website connect your origin account to that then you enter the key on the sims 3 site that's how i got my simpoints
Hope i helped a little?

How do I locate the keys on Steam? Do I have to have the Sims 3 and expansion packs installed before I can see them?

urb, right click on the game in your steam libary and choose view CD Key.

That option doesn't show up for me.

I'm going to uninstall my current game and install Steam's version. Maybe it will show up then...

Edit: Yep. I had to initialize the install in order to view my keys.

Don't forget to register each add-on. Each expansion gives you some free DLC.

Which sim packs give you sim store points?

I'm not absolutely certain, but I believe the base game is the only one that gives you Simpoints that you can use at the store.

I recently purchased Sim3 through steam and i tried to register the CD key. The EA website said that the CD key had already been registered.
I've tried to contact steam, but they are as much use as a hole in the head. Does anyone know who i can contact?

Thanks

You could try opening a support ticket at Steam Support. There's a link to it uder Help at the top of the page. Unless you've previously created a Support account, you 'll have to jump through the hoops, and create one.

Thanks McBarker, i've got a support ticket open, but the help from steam has been rubbish. I've given as much detail as i can, but i don't think they understand the issue and just keep telling me to contact ea if the game won't play.

Dont forget steam is like a shop therefore they only really sell games UNLESS there is a big issue with the game and the game gets reported so often with faults will they actually think there is a issue, they also do not have a dedicated team from EA helping with those tickets which will also delay the answers and often sent somewhere else

My sugestion is to speak t EA, send them exactly what you put in your ticket to steam and also Steams reply and ask them for assistance
