SIMS 3 JUST WON'T START

I just purchased the SIMS 3 and after spending a long time having it downloaded, it just won't start.... when i click the button start it simply has no reaction (not even an error report...) and you can notice that in the task manager something like "sim3 launcher" appear for about 2 seconds and then disappear... can anyone help me???? thx a lot !!

wow same I'm using windows 7 as well and it's not working for me either ):

Try to right-click it, go to properties, pick the compatibility tab and select Windows XP. Hope this helps.

I wasn't able to change the compatibility on it, all I get is a popup saying "Sims3Launcher has stopped working" sigh

Same. I downloaded the game, and whenever I click it it comes up with the "Preparing to launch" thing, then that closes and it says "Sims3Launcher has stopped working" and does nothing.

mine even without a sign...just no response....

Try deleting your missingdeps.idx file. Backup of any files before deletion is always recommended. The file will re-create itself, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. The file is located at (default):

Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/DCCache/

After deletion try running the game again.

Steam replied and the fix is to delete everything in the Steam folder, except; \Steamapps\, \Userdata\ and Steam.exe and launch Steam from the folder. I tried that and it worked.
