Can I mix Steam + Amazon Sims 3 Purchases?
Does anyone know if I am able to mix the two? I want to buy the $49.99 pack from Amazon, but I also want a few of the DLC packs that are on sale on Steam today... I think the Amazon codes are for Origin. :/

I would just buy the entire thing on steam but it's slightly cheaper on Amazon + I have a $5 discount code.

No. Sims games are not official steam games. You cannot buy a hard copy from amazon or another store and activate it on steam.

This is confusing, because I was reading in other threads that you could buy the amazon stuff, register that on Origin, and also register the steam DLC keys on Origin as well...?

This is correct. All Sims 3 keys are redeemable on Origin.

hmm. frankly i never tried it. but what i will say is not every game sold in the steam store can be activated on steam if you were to buy a copy from another store. a quick way to tell if the game can be activated on steam is to see if it has steam achievements.

the steam DLC keys probably work on origin because the sims is an EA game

there is a list online somewhere that has all games that can be activated on steam.

check out this forum post... http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2101969

hold on i think i may have misinterpreted the question. are you trying to activate your amazon copy on steam or origin? if its origin then yes, the amazon copy and the steam DLC keys can be activated on origin. i read that you can mix them

If you was to buy a DLC/Expansion on Steam you can use the code from steam to add to Origin but you won’t be able to play it on Steam unless you bought base game on Steam. If you already have the base game and other DLC/Expansion on Origin then you could easily just buy the DLC/Expansion on Steam and add to Origin if its cheaper here. Any Sim Key's bought outside of Steam cannot be added to Steam.

Wrong. You will not be able to view the key unless you own Sims 3 on steam already. Do not purchase expansions expecting to transfer them to origin.

How do I see the key? I bought the base game along with a bunch of expansions but I can't find the key anywhere.

So if someone owns a storebought physical copy of Sims 3 and purchases an expansion (Supernatural for example) on steam, will the expansion not work or something? I thought you could get the key for any steam game in the library.

Just Ativate it on your computer the add it to steam

Once its activated on steam you right click on the Sims game on your libary and select "View CD Key" this should show you keys needed (for all expans and content bought on steam)

Yes, but in order to view the keys you need the BASE game on Steam.
