Base game good enough?
Is getting just the base game good enough or should I get the expansions, what expansion do you reccommend?

In my experience with The Sims; it seems that they strip away the really fun, exciting, crazy, and original content for every base Sims release. Then with DLC they add it all back in (guess how many pets and college expansions I have). At some point I just want pets to be considered "base game" material, but it wiill not happen. Not to say the game itself isn't enjoyable. I guess maybe I just expect more "expansion" with the base game rather than just "inflated"...am I making sense?...anyways, I say buy it. You'll be pleased especially if you have never played a previous game or if it's been a while.

Top 5 in my opinion:
1. World Adventures (Seriously! It’s so cool to travel to other countries.)
2. Island Paradise (I like sharks much, and the oceans are nice too.)
3. Pets (CATS! And others animals)
4. Seasons (The realism in it.)
5. Into the Future (haven’t really tried this much, but by the looks of it, its glorious!)

This would be my exact list even to the point about not playing much of the future expansion but liking the style and ideas. I think most others would agree.

Just to put this out of the way.
6. Supernatural … meh … if you are in to that kinda stuff, but not really somenthing you will need to enjoy an expansion. I like it mostly for the little things it gets you, not the real werwolf things and all that. If you got the money and know you’re gonna play the game a while you should get this. Also: zombies = fantastic +.

Are they on steam? And thanks!

See it here: http://store.steampowered.com/dlc/47890
Don’t bother to get Movie Stuff. It’s nothing really in to it, and it is just to milk.
Schientia Dec 25, 2013 @ 8:22pm
Don’t get the Fast Lane Stuff extension either. For really … how many hours are you gonna play this game and driving a car, and thinking: - «Man, that car looks good!»? The one or two first times, maybe three, not more.

You can click see all DLC underneath the listed stuff on the store page as well to get a smaller text view of them. I would say don't get any of the stuff packs unless you are actually interested in those particular items because they just end up never being used. That being said if you did want them now is the time to buy because this game never goes on sale...That's exactly the way they want you to think...I'VE FALLEN IN THEIR TRAP!!!

my list would be the same but just moved around, and instead of pets, supernatural . pets get to needy lol

I think of the EP's, I've liked Generations (I tend to create legacies and Generations is great for that) and Ambitions (I liked the extra careers) the most. Oh! And Seasons! Seasons is great - really makes things a lot more immersive. I only have (aside from those) Showtime, and I didn't find it fun at all. I haven't played much of the game, though.

If you haven't, look at Lazy Game Reviews on youtube as he has some really great reviews of each EP. Really, though, hthe base game on its own isn't so great, and it's missing so much content (that as someone said gets added back in each time) that you really should be planning to get at least one or 2 EPs to add to the experience. I don't like the model, but given that's how all the games have been, it is what it is...

Guess my opinion will differ but here goes.

I think Generations/Ambitions/Pets should be the first 3 as they add a lot to the gameplay.

After that Seasons.
The rest can come later IMO.

The only ones I do NOT have are Into the future, supernatural, island paradise. And a couple Stuff packs.
Not interesting to me .. although I may give Island paradise a try but likely never get the other 2.

Everyones playstyle is so different though, so the expansions some of us may find just OK, you may find amazing.

As Iceblade said, Lazy Game Reviews on You tube is a great place to see whats in each and what they are about. Watch them and you'll have a idea what peaks your interest the most.
