If they are not happy and are brought up badly (poor grades, lots of fights, &c.) the game will automatically assign them traits. If they're happy and brought up well, you get to pick at last some of those traits.
thanks buddy
Children get 3 traits
Teens have 4 traits
Young Adults - Elders have 5 traits
as cruinne said depending on how you treat and raise your sims you can get eithr good or bad traits or you can pick which trait they get :D
If you have the Generations expansion pack (i have that on a physical disc), you can send children and teens away to boarding school and while they're there they can learn new skills and traits.
A cheat you can use is testingcheatsEnabled true, shift+click on the sim you are currently playing as and select 'modify traits for active sim' to change their traits around.
Have fun :D
that was about to be my next question cause i gave my dad the wrong name on accident. what file do i find the configuration in? or do i type in game?
ya thanks. just found that. you are a pretty helpful mofo there cruinne. couldnt find where to change traits tho. but not too worried about that for this game but would be good to know. i know how to rescript and configure, even to raw code, i mean i get how and all, and looked everywhere. i just cant find the testcheatenable line.
unless its a manual command, in which i cant even find a type box.
To get the cheat console up, press control + shift + c.
There you can enter: testingCheatsEnabled true
From there, various things can be done by shift-clicking on Sims or items. (Don't forget to go back into the console and do a testingCheatsEnabled false when you're done.)
The alternative is a mod from NRaas called MasterController, which makes the cheats menu available through various in-game pie menus, instead of having to turn cheats on and off all the time. http://nraas.wikispaces.com/MasterController+Phase+Twelve
thank you much.
oh is it 'testingcheatsEnabled = true', or 'testingCheatsEnabled = true', or 'TestingCheatsEnabled = true', or either way with '= True', or '=True', or '=true'?
testingCheatsEnabled true
There is no equals sign or quotes of any kind.
Can this be done on a sim that also has lost a trait? When my toddler grew uo ot child I chose a trait, but I notice now, after loading the save, that the trait I chose was gone.
College Graduates (University Life) have 6 traits - Honorary Degree LTW included
Sims who reach Level 8 with one of the social groups (Jocks, Nerds, Rebels) also gain another trait, so the maximum is 7 with UL installed.
It can be done in two ways. Without mods, do testingcheatsenabled true, then shift+click the sim. You can edit them in Create a Sim (traits are under personality) or adjust their traits directly (which just opens the trait selection screen). If you have the Master Controller mod with the Cheats add-on (nraas.wikispaces.com), you can change traits without needing to open the console (the mod turns it on and off to do what it needs to do).
