For example you can go to other sims' houses and redesign them.
Or, you can go for hairdresser (more or less), which allows you to change a sim's clothing and hair and accessories (and get paid for that)
Didn't like it too much compared to the shops in Sims 2 (which I used a lot)
Ambitions also allows for a Sim to register as "self employed" and then make money from gardening, sculpting, fishing, and a couple other things they can do on their own, too.
Abitions will give you many jobs you can do at home asuming you have atleast one skillpoint in them:
Farmer, writter, painter.
Then there are proffesions like private eye(stalker) home decorator(change sims there houses) stylist(making sims wear something decent for a change)
Ow and generations adds babysitter proffesion....Wich is a very very very hard job if you only got one sim.
