If I buy and install Supernatural, can I disable the supernatural aspects until I feel like using them?
I've got all the Sims 3 expansions except Supernatural and Into the Future; I skipped those two because I am trying to stick to "realistic" game play for now. However, with the current 60% off sale, now seems a good time to buy Supernatural (for $7.99). I'm using the Origin version of Sims 3, so I would need to transfer Steam's Supernatural key to Origin, and then install Supernatural on Origin to make sure the Steam-to-Origin key transfer works. If it does, I might pick up some stuff packs. Therefore, if I buy Supernatural, I'd like to immediately install it.

However, I don't want any supernatural events or characters in my current games. Or in any new games I create, until I feel like trying out the supernatural elements.

So the question is this:

If I buy Supernatural, is there a way to disable supernatural events or characters, or anything else that could make my games feel unrealistic? Or is uninstalling Supernatural the only way to turn them off?

Thanks!

You get options like this:

Yes you can control it. Also, to prevent zombies and stuff from appearing, you can disable the moon phases by changing it to something other than full moons since a lot of weird supernatural stuff happens on a full moon. Not sure exactly how effective these options are, but I turn them off and it feels as if I do not have the expansion on even though I do.

Note that these options stop the creation and spreading of NEW people. So if you already have a vampire walking around, he will still be there whether you uncheck the option or not. But so far it seems to keep the game pretty realistic.
