First, be sure that CCmagic is not the problem, and launch through Steam instead.
Then I'd also try a temporary "Factory Reset" (section 3.6 below). If that works, you know something is borked either in your custom content, mods, or save files, and can try to narrow it down from there.
And then definitely take a look at sections 2.5, 3.3, 3.4, and 3.9.

At the last moment I thought it may be a Steam issue, so I re-installed Steam and got rid of any trace of Sims 3 on the computer.
Reinstalled Sims 3 as well and still the same outcome with the launcher. I also uninstalled cc magic and all the mods from the game (before I did all that said stuff with steam and s3.)
I'm completely at a loss so I've decided to try and use the disk version I own even though I have no expansions connected to it. If it works I'll continue from there on how I can save up to get my hands on the other expansions.
On the bottom left hand cornor of the launcher though when it comes up with the message, the patch basically has all 0's. Would I perhaps have to patch it myself? I know steam tends to do that itself but idk
Either way, you shouldn't have to buy everything again just to not use the Steam version - if everything is registered to the same account at thesims3.com, you then own Origin copies of everything and should be able to download and install using Origin.
That said: if the problem is in your Documents directory (in there, inside Electronic Arts\The Sims 3), new installs will not help at all.
