This game is too easy.....
Literally any way you play your SIM, there is a definite easy way to get tons of money. Its so easy to promote in your job too, etc etc.. I could even start with 0 gold buying a bunch of cupboards to waste all of it and still come out strong after a while..

The more people in your household varies your difficult. For example, 1 person is lowest difficult, 8 people is highest.

is there also another way to make this game more difficult, any mods for example that increase costs, or anything that this game become more difficult?

There are mods that make the public services like going to the gym or taking a cab cost money. I use one that disables the auto-purchase of ingredients when making a meal, so my sims will have to go out and buy stuff every-once-and-a-while.

I think NRaas StoryProgression allows you to tone the job performance gain rate, it can also make the amount of performance score increase as a sim advances in its career. That mod can be quite demanding on your rig though.

There used to be some other mods that makes the bill much larger, or that the household is billed everyday, or both. Not sure if it's still there though.

Of course. Taxi Charge Mod from ModTheSims[modthesims.info]

Workout Costs Money[modthesims.info] from ModTheSims

And No Fridge Shopping[nraas.wikispaces.com] from NRaas Industries.

Some people also just adjust their playstyle. They start their Sim on the largest lot available, set their money to 0 after that, and make them live essentially "homeless" until they can afford to build their own place, slowly, room by room.

I often do that, along with my Sim is only allowed to marry townies, which can make it hard to find someone decent. :-)

There is also a few nraas mods to increase the household to 24 sims

Master Controller lets you add Sims to your household beyond the 8 Sim limit, but I think you can only go up to eight or ten through regular pregnancy or adoption. The rest have to be manually added or you have to use functions like "Pollinate" to force pregnancy to exceed the cap. The rest of the NRaas mods that support overstuffed households don't really remove the cap. For that you need a Core Mod like Awesome (and don't forget to add the Portrait Panel mod since portraits are also capped at 8 or 10).

I play with just one sim and it doesn't get boring. That is just a matter of taste.

Thats pretty much what I always did back when I had all the dlcs on disc years ago hehe..

I would buy the largest lot I could leaving me with just enough to build/ buy 1 room with a toilet, bed, kitchen bench with a sink and a chair.

Doing that it made the start pretty hard since my sims mood was always crap and it would always take a good while before even getting a promotion.

Starting like that always made it more fun for me since I would start with basicly nothing and end up building a mansion while raising a family :)
