CD KEY Wont't register in-game or Website
I bought the game on the summer sale.
Installed perfectly, but I can't redeem my CD Key on either option.
I'm getting tired of STEAM quality service and product.
Do they verify if the game is not broken ? Not the first time it happen to me...

Thanks in advance for your help Steam community :(

I bought two EPs in the summer sale and haven't had problem redeeming the keys. Here's how I do it:

  • Right-click the game in the Library and "View CD Key".
  • In a browser, go to thesims3.com.
  • Log into thesims3.com.
  • Click "My Page" then "My Account" then "Register a Game".
  • Select then copy the first four characters of the key (only), and paste them into the first box.
  • Select and copy the second four characters of the key (only) and paste them into the second box.
  • Repeat this for the third, fourth, and fifth sets of characters and boxes.
  • Click the "Register" button.

A lot of people try to select/copy/paste the whole key at once, and this won't work.

The joke is that. I manually wrote the key... it doesn't even work....

I'm having the same issue; came to the forums to see if I wasn't the only one.

I now see I have a message on the Sims 3 site saying I successfully registered an hour ago. I don't remember seeing a confirmation message, and Steam sure insisted I'd need that CD key so I didn't think it would be able to do it behind the scenes, but *shrug*.

I can't use online services, I can't even get the in-game client to take my key code. And every time I start the game up it tries to make me register. Even though I have an account on the launcher.

It is not a Steam issue. It's EA's problem. Their game, their keys they make them and give them to Valve to sell on Steam.

It's on sale and just hit the flash sale so people are going full ♥♥♥♥♥♥ buying it and EA's servers can't handle it.

I got Sims 3 with the Origin Humble Bundle and I experienced slow service from EA aswell.
Had to jump through hoops just to hit a brick wall. The Crysis 2 release was like that also.

I dimly recall a weird back-and-forth when registering the base game when I bought it a year or two ago. It worked and didn't take 'that' long, that's all I know and care about.

This has happened to me too. Have I basically just got to wait until EA sort it?

CCtryingtofitin: If you follow the steps I posted (first reply above), at what point does it break down for you, and what happens when it does (what's the error message and so on)?

I want to know if anyone can log online in the The Sims 3. CD Key is registered (Finally).

This also happened to me but with island paradise. The thing is i was able to register the exp in the sims3 website because i did a live chat with ea/origin support. They validated my key and provided me with a new key. They told me something was wrong with key so they gave me a new one.
