Is horrible performance ok?
I used to run the game on W7 and I swear to god, it was running more stable. Now on W10 it's very laggy, I tried lowering down graphics in the game but the game is still very laggy on 3/4 speed option, it seems to be stable on 1 and 2. Zooming out of my house is also very laggy, can't even look around the neighborhood

Can you possibly run this thing at 60 fps more or less stable with the game being more responsive at 3/4 in-game speed? Cuz I feel like I have to wait so long for my Sim to sleep through the night, with the game being slow and all

My rig: RX 580 8gb
i5 3470
12gb DDR3
game is on SSD

This game does not have an FPS limiter, so it can burn out newer machines if you don't set the FPS limit to 60. For better performance, there are a number of Steam guides for this game that can help you. My favorites are the following:

GUIDES TO IMPROVE OR FIX SIMS 3

"The Sims 3 Performance & Bug Fix Guide 2021"

"Troubleshooting for The Sims 3"

Island Paradise (Make the DLC map playable fix)

However, you should check the guides section for this game. There is lots of stuff in there.

oh yeah i did actually try to set the fps to 60 myself through rivatuner but that doesn't seem to help with the lags at all. Actually, it might have made things worse as I don't experience screen tearing at 200 fps the same way as I do at 60. Can't seem to force vsync on the game. my AMD software doesn't allow for it

Ugh, you are using Rivatuner. I uninstalled that app a long time ago. It was causing too many problems (like lag) on too many games, and a lot of the functions didn't work like they said they would or didn't work at all. I vaguely recall that it could have been lagging Sims 3 for me as well. I wouldn't trust that app to adjust my game settings at all.

You can try the smooth patch to limit the FPS of your game as well if rivatuner doesn't work that well.

IIRC, you can change the maximum memory usage from 2 gig up to a higher value in the sims3.ini file. It doesn't speed up loading, but the game runs smoother.
