The Sims™ 3

My sims wont sleep in one room!
So I am in Appaloosa Plains, and I bought the cheap farm. Everything was fine until I added a second floor. Now whenever they try to sleep, they refuse. They always show a thought bubble of a random member of the house, and refuse to go to sleep. They get angry and tired, but they refuse to sleep in the bed that is on the second floor. It is two sims who refuse to share the bed, though they are married and have a good relationship. I have checked, and these were the only issues I could think of:

-The sims they think about are always either in bed or doing something unrelated to them. The thought bubble has a big red crossout on them, like they hate the person, and underneathe that bubble is another that just shows the bed. They never go up to them either, so I don't know what that is about.
-Putting the bed on the first floor seems to work, but then my second floor is useless.
-If i sell the current bed, and buy a new one for upstairs, it will work for one night, then be useless again.
-There is nothing loud, ie no TV, no parties, no music, nothing.
-There is a roof and a ceiling, so that isn't it.
-They do this regardless of whether they own the bed or not.
-If one of the two sims can sleep in the bed, then so can the other, so it isn't an issue of them refusing to sleep in the same bed.

I am really stumped and getting pretty mad. Can anyone help or do I have to redesign the whole f***ing house?

Oh and also, I have no mods installed at all. Clean slate.

I'd try to enlarge or re-arrange the second-floor room.

It could be a pathfinding issue which can be really tricky to spot and sort out. I'd eliminate everything but the bed just to try that out, and ensure there are two full spaces around both sides of the bed and its foot, just to see if that helped.

The part that makes me think it might be a pathfinding issue is that the bed works if it's on the first floor - that means there's something about it being on the second floor that is making one side of the bed inaccessible. The big red X over the person means "that person's already sleeping there" - that is, your Sim isn't recognizing the other side of the bed as somewhere they can get to. I think.

The bad news - looks like it's a glitch that's still present in Sims 4. :-|

Of course it is... Why would they patch a persistent glitch that has followed them across two games now when they could nickel and dime us with DLC instead -___-"

And the weird part about the person they think about is sometimes they are plumbots who are not in the bed. Since this post, it happened in another room, and the only fix I have found is to clone the bed, sell the current one, and replace it with the cloned bed. The cloned beds seem to always work, even in the original spots. So now I am forced to use the money cheat to compensate, as lossing money over this seems very broken.

I've seen something like this now that I think about it - it was a pathfinding issue that only occurred when someone was in one side of the bed.

The Sim could pathfind past that side when it was empty, but could not when someone was sleeping in it, or making it (or queued up on their way to make it) and so on. That's why I suggested clearing space around the bed, though it's hard to say what will really help. If you can, post a screenshot of the bedroom (with grid on, if possible) and some of us might be able to try figure it out better.

Well I have the screenshot I took a few days back. Unfortunately, my sim is now at college so I can't go back to my house too soon. But this shows the issue pretty perfectly. Unfortunately, I don't know how to post directly in the discussion, so I uploaded the screenshot, here is the link

Can you link directly to the screenshot itself? That just takes us to your wall, showing only screenshots of Portal and Unturned. (Maybe the Sims screenshot is set to non-public?)

It should be under artwork. I bought Sims3 through steam, but I have it installed on origin, so I can't figure out how to do the screenshots in steam.

Ah, OK :-) I can't really see anything obvious - it looks like there might be something on the left side of the bed, but the portraits are over it so I can't really tell. :-\

Yeah it is happening in a few places, so I gave up solving it. I just now clone the beds, sell the originals, and put the clones down. Then I use cheats to add in the money I lost

It's a shame it has to come down to that.

The only other thing I can think of, is using testingCheatsEnabled or MasterController (from NRaas) to reset the beds and seeing if that works.

Well at least it works (kind of). Not really worth the effort to fix to be frank, since I exhausted all the easy solutions.
