The Sims™ 3
Why doesnt anyone talk about the holiday spam?
Its literally designed so you cant go 5 days without a holiday and not being payed. The DLC is literally garbage.
(only way to stop them is via nraas tempest)

It is not required to play seasons that short, but what makes sense to the player for each one will depend on their sims' age span lengths and the climate of the world(s) they are playing. A sim whose life expectancy is 500 sim days does not need a seasons change and a holiday every week, but one who is only going to live for 90 sim days should probably see the seasons change and the holidays a bit more often so they get to experience some of everything as an adult as well as when they are younger.

Yes, NRaas Tempest can be used to disallow (or add) holidays. But we can also use NRaas StoryProgression (SP Career add-on module required) to set each of the four holidays as to whether they should be time off from work or not, and whether or not schools should be closed. In my games, sims get the day off with pay for Leisure and Snowflake Days but not for Spooky and Love Days. And they get holiday bonus pay for Snowflake, depending on their career, job levels, performance, and some random factors. If they want to celebrate Spooky and Love, they can do so on their own time after work/school. :)

Without Nraas mods and tools I would not be playing the sims. Unmodded the game is pretty lame and restricted in many ways.
I'm probably weird but I pretty much play my sims for 1000+ days lifespan and each season is max days (28). I would slow the days down a bit too if I could. I don't like to feel rushed. It ruins the fun for me.
Well, everyone is different. I can't imagine having the same season for so long, it would've felt stale for me. Thatš why I have my seasons usually set to 5, though I tinker with it if I play in world I percieve to be colder or warmer, but I still keep the 20 days year cycle. It works well with my lifespan of 247, since this way, my Sims will experience each season (and holiday) at least once per life stage except for babies and toddlers. And that's part of the fun for me.
if you mean the "take a free vacation and leave kids alone" thing, I thought you can just decline.

You can decline and actually should, as that scenario is broken and has the capacity to ruin players' games. But it's from Generations, the holidays being discussed here are actual celebrated days on the calendar from Seasons.

ah. well its still just 1 day and depending on how long you set your ear I dont think it happens often enough to be annoying.
