Pregnancy bugged?
Guys I'm really stuck. My sim that I play only has boys. I've saved the game about 22 hours before she has the baby and everytime the result is the same. She has a boy. I've tried turning the progression off, tried the watermelon trick and nothing changes. Can anyone advise me on this

It's to late to change it. The gender of the baby is already set a the moment that your sim get pregnant.
If you have no mod, the only way to select the gender, is the way you have already done...eating 3 watermelons for a girl and 3 apples for a boy.
Also, i think that you have a certain time to eat them...i think it's when the game haved said to you that the sim is pregnant but you have to eat your 3 fruits rapidely and 1 after an other.

The only other way i know is to change it with the master controller mod from Nraas,...after the birth.

Just to add a few details ...

The three fruits (watermelons for girls; apples for boys) can, in theory, be eaten at any time from conception to labor, but all they do is increase the chances of a boy or girl, they don't guarantee it. Eating more than three doesn't further increase the chances; eating them in a dish doesn't count (gotta eat the raw fruit).

Some people believe that eating the fruit earlier in the pregnancy (before the bulge shows) has a better chance of affecting the pregnancy. What I do know is that a medical Sim has a social option to "determine gender of baby" that appears once the bulge appears (that is, mom switches to maternity clothes). This would sort of seem to imply that by that point, the game has already determined if the baby is a boy or a girl (or perhaps it decides when the medical Sim checks, but that would seem even more strange).

The saving-a-bit-before-labor-and-going-back-again to get a different gender trick is only for alien-implanted babies, though; afaik, that doesn't work with woohoo-conceived children, as it's too late by then to change the baby's sex.

To add a bit more, gender seems to be determined (but is not set in stone) at conception. I use Master Controller and the Cheats add-on, so I typically start nosing around shortly after the little lullaby indicates a successful "Try for Baby" interaction and MC consistently gives me a gender at that point. Just tried it to be sure and, yep, it's a boy at 0 hours into the pregnancy.

My best guess (and it's just a guess) is that the fruit stuff is the game providing a small chance to change that, so the initial woo-hoo would be a 50-50 roll on gender and eating the fruit is maybe a roll/reroll on changing it. Obiviously if you've got a boy and are eating apples, nothing changes or gets rerolled. But the idea of eating fruit to provide a nudge to gender probably has some basis in fact or it wouldn't be floating around this long and that's about the only thing I can think of that produces the result and incorporates all of the information.

[EDIT:] I'm checking with an Nraas expert on a question regarding this. It is entirely possible that querying the mother's status (which is where the baby's gender displays) is forcing the game to return a gender value at a point in time where that value might not normally exist. So take all of the foregoing with a hefty dose of skepticism. I'll report back once I get my expert's answer.

i really appreciate your help on this. i have taken to MC to get it fixed, i'm just not very good with nraas mods :)

If you're wanting to change the gender, it can be done without MC, but is a little clunky. Enable the developer console (press ctrl+shift+C) and type "testingcheatsenabled true" (without quotes). Back in game, shift+click the child (don't think this works with infants, but I haven't tried, so really don't know) and select "Edit in Create-a-Sim" (or something like that). Once you're in CAS, you can change the gender, change the name, and exit back to the game. I usually make sure that hair and clothing are to my liking before returning to the game because the game otherwise just randomly assigns them, which can lead to some "interesting" results, to be tactful about it. It will occasionally mess with Lifetime Wishes, but not often. Otherwise, all of the appearance sliders will remain in their original positions and all of the traits will remain the same, but the game will now use the male models rather than the female ones (or vice versa).

I'm still waiting on an answer to my question, but will get back as soon as I have one.
