Carrying items in inventory is pain

Is there a way to carry multiple iitems of the same kind at once but not the whole stack?
Let's say i have 200 cherry in my inventory and i want to carry 30 of those to a chest nearby. Do i have to select 30 of them one by one? Isn't there a hotkey for that?

You can split a stack of items into multiple stacks by doing a drag-and-drop.

But that doesn't help me at all. I would still have to select items one by one

I've never found anything to do that. It's a pain, but yes, you need to drag and drop them one by one.

The only time-saver for moving edibles and potions is that if you drag and drop, say 5 cherries, into the fridge, then your other sim can tap on the stack and get all 5 at once. Boxes probably work the same way.

Thank you all for your answers. I could've sworn i saw a mechanic like that. Pushing a button and adjusting the amount you wanna take etc. etc. But then again i might be confusing it with another game

There is a mechanic for that, but as far as I know, said mechanic applies to a different part of the game. You can do it when your sim's buying something from the grocery store, but not in the inventory.

Press and hold the Shift key as you click the smaller icon on the stack of items you want to move as you drag it to where you want them to be moved to, I believe.

Then, when you let go, it should ask how many items you want to move.

Whoah, after all these years! I never heard of this. I will definitely try this.

EDIT: What smaller icon? I only have one icon for each stack. Holding the shift key doesn't do anything.

EDIT: What smaller icon? I only have one icon for each stack. Holding the shift key doesn't do anything.

There is a blue icon on the top left that lets you carry the whole stack. Press and hold Shift key before pressing that icon. When you are done and decided where you wanna put that stack, game will ask you the amount.

Nope, don't have that blue icon, unless you are talking about when I'm selling stuff at a store. I didn't check that. But if I'm just look at my Sim's inventory, there is no blue icon in the top left. Are you using NRAAS mods or something? Or maybe it's a change that comes with a DLC that I don't have. I don't use any mods and I don't have all of the DLC yet.

No, it's not top left of the inventory. Top left of the item thats IN your inventory. Also you need to have multiple amount of the same item to see that icon appearing. I'm pretty sure that mechanic also exist in base game.

Yes, I knew you were talking about the top left of the items in my inventory. I didn't understand due to semantics. I think I figured out what you meant. Were you refering to the blue fold mark in the corner that we click on to expand the stack? To me, an icon is like the little picture of an apple or some other thing.

Anyway, I tried holding the shift key and clicking and dragging that blue fold into a storage box, but it just puts the entire stack into the box. It doesn't ask me how many I want to put in there. So, that's great if I want to put an entire stack of something into a box, but it doesn't let me split the stack.

Huh, that's strange. It seems like you've done everything right. I have no idea why it's not working for you. I wish i could help but i got nothing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
