Just put the contents of the ZIP file into your mods/packages file.
gnarly Mar 24, 2016 @ 11:27am

Depsurrel Mar 24, 2016 @ 11:29am
Do you have NRASS base installed?
gnarly Mar 24, 2016 @ 11:55am

oh and i looked up a video on it aswell didnt work either :/
Sigmar's Faithful Mar 24, 2016 @ 12:22pm
Does your mod framework work at the first place?
cruinne Mar 24, 2016 @ 12:27pm
  1. Download the mod. For Woohooer you want (if your game is up to date) Base Mod for patch level 1.63-1.69
  2. Open the zip file you downloaded.
  3. Inside it, get the file called NRaas_Woohooer.package and place that file in your Mods directory, inside the folder called Packages.

That will get the right file into the right place.

Next, ensure these things are all true:
  • Your Mods folder is inside Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\ in your computer's Documents folder (not Program Files). That is: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods

  • That the mod you want to install has a .package extension, not .zip.

  • That mod is inside a Packages folder inside that Mods folder above. That is: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages

  • Inside the Mods folder you have a copy of the Resource.cfg file. Here is a link to the file: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/file/detail/Resource.zip (it is zipped, so open it and take out the Resource.cfg file - that is the one you want inside Mods).

You have to use a program to open it - with .zip files it's called "unzipping" them or "extracting" the file that's inside. If you do not have something to unzip the file already installed, you'll need to get something.

Most people use WinZip, WinRar, or 7-Zip.

Installing is not what makes the .package file. You have to extract the .package file from inside the .zip file.

ah um it seems i am getting a older version of the mod there's no 1.67.2.024037 version....:steamfacepalm:

OK, this will come out as a wall of text, but we'll take it step by step. You'll have to make a couple of choices along the way. Go with either the A step or the B step, but do not do both. I am assuming that you're using Windows 7, Windows 8 or 8.1, or Windows 10. If you're using something else, we may have found your problem.

1. Go into your Documents folder
2. Open the \Electronic Arts folder
3. Open the \The Sims 3 folder
4. Open the \Mods folder
5. Inside of that folder there need to be two things. There might be others, but these two must be there: a \Packages folder and a file called Resource.cfg
5A. if there is no \Packages folder, make one (click the "New Folder" button and call it "Packages" without the quotes)
5B. if there is no Resource.cfg file go here: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/file/detail/Resource.zip and one will download. Save it to your desktop. It's a .zip file, but we'll deal with that shortly.
6. Minimize the \Mods window (don't close it - we'll need it in a minute)
7. Go here to get the Woohooer mod: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/file/view/NRaas_Woohooer_V129.zip/571507125/NRaas_Woohooer_V129.zip - save it to your desktop
8. right-click the Resource.zip file and select "Extract". You can also select "Open with" and choose "Windows Explorer".
8A. If you extracted, there will now be a new folder on your desktop. Open it, right-click the Resource.cfg file and select "Copy"
8B If you opened it with Windows Explorer, you'll see a file called Resource.cfg. Right-click it and select "Copy"
9. Bring up the \Mods folder, right-click in the in a blank area under the \Packages folder and select "Paste". You should now have a Resource.cfg file in the \Mods folder.
10. Now open the \Packages folder and minimize the window again.
11. Find the NRaas_Woohooer.zip file on your desktop and repeat either 7A or 7B with it and copy the Nraas_Woohooer.package file
12. Bring up the \Packages folder window, right-click in a blank area and select "Paste". You should now have a NRaas_Woohooer.package file inside the \Packages folder.

You should be set. The Woohooer mod I pointed you to will work with your version of the game. The V129 part is the version of the mod, not the version of the game it runs on, so don't worry about it. If you decide to use any other NRaas mods, the same steps will work for installing them (extract them and put them in the \Packages folder), but you will not need a new Resource.cfg file, so you can skip that part.

As a final check, start the game. When you get to the Main Menu, you should get a popup window that says NRaas_Woohooer has been loaded. If that happens, you're good. If it doesn't, exit the game and double-check the steps I gave you.

I said this in some other threads, but you can get the program called CC Magic and it'll do this entire big list for you itself.
http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=461888
Once installed, all you have to do is place mods into the Downloads folder found at Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads
Do that and the program will do everything else in that step-by-step list for you. It 'd be much easier to manage the mods that way. And if you decide to use a lot of mods, such as hundreds like I have, or even if you just get most of the mods at NRAAS, which you probably should do, it'll load much much better because CC Magic combines mods into larger files which because of how Windows Operates is seemingly paradoxically easier and less laggy to load.

I was able to get the W mod installed and it worked once. Now my game freezes just before a new town or save finish loading. I left the computer going for 3 hours and it won't finish loading. Any suggestions?

PS removing the mod makes the game work again, I have the Resource.cfg and am using the correct version of said mod.
