Is there an alternative to "Create A World" and can I make custom sim models?

So the question:
"Is there an alternative to 'Create A World' and can I make custom sim models?"

Basically I got Sims 3 (on steam) recently, and I thought maybe I could try and make some mods. Sadly I can't seem to download the Create A World for map making, not sure if I have to log into The Sims 3 website or not. But even if I could download it, according to this guide

as I quote "To get the Create-a-World tool to work with the Steam version of The Sims 3, you must edit your registry. Making a mistake in doing this can cause a lot of problems, including causing your computer not to work."

I'm VERY concerned about this (as I actually tried updating my previous computer to a newer version of windows to play a different game that required an updated "DirectX"[?], and that screwed the computer up in a weird way; I don't want to screw this one up either). So if anyone knows of any good alternatives [like somehow making a map in blender and importing it to Sims 3, someone making a mod that allows you to do the same stuff (including the "Super Create A World" thing?) in the game itself, or something], please let me know.

As for the second part of the question, I wanted to try and make a mod for the Sims 3 to make the sim characters (including the randomly generated ones) look more anime, but I'm not sure how to go about it (was thinking of using blender, but not sure how the sliders work or how to apply it to the randomly generated sim characters).

As a bonus question (for reading to the end): are there any mods you may be interested in me making? (Not sure if I can or can't, but doesn't mean I couldn't try or think about it. So feel free to suggest anything. ;) [And if I don't, then maybe someone else who reads it will.] )

no you need CAW to make maps (aka worlds).

sorry bout your other computer, I totally get how frustrating things can be when it doesn't turn out as expected, or turns into a long drawn out nightmare when expecting it to be easy.

since I want to try my hand at world making eventually, I'mma try downloading CAW right now to see what happens.

OMG. "This product requires an installed copy of TheSims3. Please install TheSims3 before installing this product" OMG. HOW DARE THEY.

okay well, as much as I absolutely detest fiddling with the registry keys, I would do it for CAW. blah and yucko.

Your best bet for questions about modding would be ModTheSims. and https://www.nraas.net/community/home Any mods that you make, need to be compatible with the core mod from nraas, since pretty much everyone uses it. Maybe the Smooth Patch too, maybe. Sorry if you already know all that, but you sound new so....

I can't answer your two questions, but I fully understand your concerns. The Sims 3 on new PCs is very complicated to run well. I also wouldn't want to make any changes that would mess things up.

But to your last question I have some suggestions.

For several years I have been searching without finding mods that would make my sims completely self-sufficient.
A hunting mod that would kill deer and small animals such as raccoons in order to harvest meat without going to buy it.
Another mod that would allow sims to employ themselves as a hunter by selling the meats and skins they harvest would be fantastic.
A mod that could also modify functions in the cow pen and the henhouse allowing you to kill and harvest meat instead of playing "morpion-sabot" and asking the rooster stupid questions would also be a great improvement.

The possibility of doing this with a bow rather than a rifle as well, because for my part, I try to simulate a medieval era. I already use a weapon/assassin mod that allows you to kill sims by aiming with the camera when taking pictures.
If this mod could also allow me to hunt animals and collect different meats, I could be a hunter who lives from hunting, fishing and gardening.
