I'm not sure exactly what your current setup is, so I'll describe one possible scenario and how to accomplish what I think you want to. Maybe you'll be able to go from there, but if not, just describe your issue in more detail.
Say you have an existing household saved to the in-game library, the families you see when you go to move in sims in Edit Town. Place that household somewhere in town. You can use a new save for this, or you can just quit without saving when you're done.
Load that household in Edit Town, and take one of the sims into CAS with cheats. Once in CAS, click the three dots on the sim's portrait on the user interface at the bottom of the screen, then click the folder icon. This saves the sim template in CAS. Keep in mind that this template may not preserve the traits or favorites, but looks and outfits should be intact. Repeat for any other sims whose templates you want to save.
When you want to use one of these templates, load the sim you want to change into CAS, then click the user interface button that shows silhouettes of six sims. (It's above the Undo and Redo buttons.) This loads all the templates the game has, and you can click the * icon to show only the ones you've saved yourself. Choose the template you want, and that will be imposed on the sim you're editing.
Both the families in the in-game bin (that you see in Edit Town) and the sim templates (that you see in CAS) are independent of any save, so you can do this repeatedly and across saves without needing to copy or recreate anything. The files themselves are in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3. The in-game bin files, both saved households and saved lots, are inside Library; sim templates are inside SavedSims. These files can be transferred from one Sims 3 folder to another, including between computers.
- I have created the family I want, a child, two young adults, and an elder.
- If I want to play with them, or put them in the town I can do that, but I need to change the age of the elder Sim, this is because you can not have an adult be the parent of a young adult.
- This doesn't sound like a problem, but once I go on and do that with testingcheatsenabled, the Sim completely changes outfits, hair colour, etc.
- I have the adult version in the Template-Library, but I can't load that in once I've started the game, right? As you can not open the Template-Library when editing Sims from that option
- My question, is there a way to open the Sim-Template-Library while editing Sims using cheats?
