To the OP: if your computer has a 12th- or 13th-gen Intel processor, please see this:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/Sims-3-won-t-open-Alder-Lake-Intel-12th-gen-CPU/m-p/11528168#M250997
If the launcher won't even open, please see this:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/Sims-3-launcher-won-t-open/m-p/10700883#M247761
If you have a different issue, please describe it, and if you've installed mods, please do test without them.
After you've done this, simply press the check box next to 'all processors', then click the check box next to CPU 1. Now if you press play in the Sims 3 launcher it should work just fine. I had to resort to this method because I just couldn't get the Alder Lake patch to work at all. After the game is fully loaded, you can then go back into task manager and enable all of your CPU cores again for smoother performance. The NRAAS smooth patch with a few other smooth gameplay mods should make the game run just fine, even on 12th~13th generation Intel processors. I am using a 13th gen Intel CPU with WIndows 11 myself.
Hope this helps.
I am not good with techology so could you explain what I would do after downloading the patch.
This fixed my issue with Windows 10. I do have a 12th gen Intel CPU with Windows 10. Can confirm the game started after this.
You are my hero. I've been searching for an hour on how to fix this until I came across your post. I recently upgraded a lot of parts for my PC and Sims 3 stopped working and I couldn't damn figure out why. But this fixed it, thank you so much ;-;
I dont understand the fix :(
I really want it to work

Also check the guides section for this game.
It's mostly how to get the GitHub things to work. I've never felt comfortable downloading and using things from GitHub. The solution already in this thread is the one I'm trying to do.
It takes some patience to read everything and click on the links for everything and read those, as well. It takes some patience to look thru the guides section and read the different guides that sometimes give other solutions. It takes patience to do a search in this forum using the words "Windows 11" or "Windows 10". Eventually you should find something that works for you. There are many, many different things to try.
You can also try to just launch the game from the TS3W.exe file. Steam won't keep track of your playtime if you launch the game that way, but if it works at least you'll get to play the game. (TS3.exe is the EA version of the game and TS3W is the Steam version, so be sure to use the TS3W.exe version if you bought the game on Steam.)
