How would I disable DLC?
I'm planning on getting The Sims 3 Ambitions, but is there away to disable it? Because the DLC says it lets you Play while doing your job. It may get annoying after a while, so I wanted to know how to disable a way.
If one of you are going to plan on telling me how to change controlling and not controlling your work, I'm also planning on getting other DLC, so I would like to know if you can disable DLC. ...And enable them easily.

Sorry for all these newby posts. :summersun::melon::summersun:

Don't think you can Disable it once downloaded, but you are able to prevent the installation. Go into the games Steam properties and then DLC. Uncheck the unwanted DLC.

Because the DLC says it lets you Play while doing your job.

Ambitions let's you play during the new Professions added with the expansion.

These are: Firefighter, Investigator, Ghost Hunter, Stylist, and Architectural Designer.

Nothing changes for any of the other jobs. With the old jobs you will still simply walk into a building and wait x hours until your shift is up.

The Professions added with Ambitions are active jobs. E.g.: As a Firefighter you can sleep at the fire station, socialize there, and use the truck to go to fires and walk into buildings to put them out.

If you don't want any of that, why are you considering getting Ambitions? Apart from a few new hobbies and a town that's pretty much all it adds.

Also, disabling any of the expansions after having used them once will likely screw up your game and make it entirely unplayable.

@amorous eyes Wait, but can't I disable Expansions by going to my "Control panel", and uninstall it? And when you say it will screw up the game, do you mean a world you have? Or the whole game where you'll have to uninstall it on Steam then re-install?

The game itself is meant to be able to be played without some expansions, so it might not mess up your whole game to where you need to re-install.

But, every expansion has stuff integrated (none of them are COMPLETELY separate), so by removing them, you'll screw up your save games. If EA gave the expansion pack a specific uninstaller, you might be safe (be sure to read what it says, though), but if it uses your basic Uninstall wizard or whatever, it's not going to remove the coding from the save games. It's just going to delete the files and reference stuff.

If it doesn't edit the save game, you're essentially ripping out a chunk of the game and loading up a save with pieces missing.
Here's a list with the stuff from Ambitions: http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/The_Sims_3:_Ambitions
Most of that will be gone. I've never done it, so I don't know how much EA autofixes any glitch/corruption caused by it (ex:if it switches NPC stylists to Unemployed, or if their Career data is corrupted).

Some things probably won't be messed up that much, and depending on what other expansions you might have, some things might stay in-tact, but chances are a lot of it will be messed up, so if you uninstall, you probably just want to make all-new saves with it.

--------------------------
TL;DR: It shouldn't mess up your Sims 3 completely. But, for save-games, it strongly depends on if EA has set up an uninstaller to remove the expansion, or if you have to use some generic uninstall wizard. If you have to, then each save-game is messed up to the extent of it's Ambitions integration. EA might have set something up to replace corrupt/unavailable information, but if they didn't you'll have glitches and/or corruption in your save-games.

This is forever late and Im sure you already figured it out by now but to uninstall DLC (and you can install it again later if you want, ) click the check mark next to the name of it on the Sims 3 game page thing in your library.

To uninstall an EP or SP, you need to do some manual editing of your Windows Registry. You can do as suggested above, but the game usually doesn't work after that if that's the only thing you do. See my guide, section 4.4 for the details:

The option exists in the 1.69 version of the game from Origin. It's not available in the Steam version.
