Anyone have the newest resource.cfg for installing Mods?
Im running on version 1.67 since steam can't stop from updating, it's really quite a disadvantage...
I can install mods in the format of sim3pack but can't be able to use the mods ending with packages, can anyone help~~~~

Here is what mine says. Just copy the following and paste it into a plain text editor (Notepad is good).

Priority 501 DirectoryFiles Files/... autoupdate Priority 1000 PackedFile Overrides/*.package PackedFile Overrides/*/*.package PackedFile Overrides/*/*/*.package PackedFile Overrides/*/*/*/*.package PackedFile Overrides/*/*/*/*/*.package Priority 500 PackedFile Packages/*.package PackedFile Packages/*/*.package PackedFile Packages/*/*/*.package PackedFile Packages/*/*/*/*.package PackedFile Packages/*/*/*/*/*.package Priority 499 PackedFile Test/*.package PackedFile Test/*/*.package PackedFile Test/*/*/*.package PackedFile Test/*/*/*/*.package PackedFile Test/*/*/*/*/*.package Priority -50 PackedFile Probation/*.package PackedFile Probation/*/*.package PackedFile Probation/*/*/*.package PackedFile Probation/*/*/*/*.package PackedFile Probation/*/*/*/*/*.package Priority 500 PackedFile DCCache/*.dbc

I don't think the Test and Probation sections are strictly necessary, but it won't hurt to leave them in.

Once that's done, name it resource.cfg (you'll have to select "all files" from the File Type drop down to keep it from tacking on .txt as the extension) and put it in the \documents\electronic arts\the sims 3\mods folder. If you don't have one, make one.

Inside the \mods folder, you will need two additional folders:
\documents\electronic arts\the sims 3\mods\packages
\documents\electronic arts\the sims 3\mods\overrides

Most mods will go into the \packages folder unless the mod author tells you to put it somewhere else.

Have you made a seperate Mods folder for them to go in?

Where are you downloading the mods from?

Try following this. http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/?topic=9187.0 (also applies for TS3)

Mods get installed according to the mod author's instructions. I mostly use mods from NRaas and they all sit in \documents\electronic arts\the sims 3\mods\packages

Your mods folder framework should look like this:

\mods
| resource.cfg
| \packages <-- this is where my mods are (they're all .package files)
| \overrides

The stuff in the downloads folder on my installation is all .Sims3Pack files. Those have to be installed via the launcher and the download manager since the game doesn't know what to do with them until they have been unpacked.

Yeah, that is exactly where i put my .packages files. I don't think any was installed in the game though.I tried several times and reinstalled the games twice.

But the first time the .sim3pack files were working properly, now i can't install them too.
