Will The Sims 3 work on Windows 8.1?

I want to buy The Sims 3 on Steam but people say it won't work on Windows 8. I did a test run on my computer to see if it will run and everything looks good but it says it runs on XP SP2 / Vista SP1 / Windows 7. So does this mean I can never play The Sims 3 on my computer? That just seems unfair. :( Also if you need more details on this subject please let me know.

Yes!!! I've played it on that and Windows 10.1

I played on Win 8.1 for a while before taking the upgrade to 10 and it worked well on both. The only hiccup on 10 was that I needed to upgrade my graphics drivers to a Win 10-compliant version.

@Tetris T: my graphics card is a GTX970. Couldn't really come up with a good enough reason to spring the extra $$$ for the 980 or Titan.

Normally, High-end cards with Windows 8(.1) or 10 may be too much for old games to handle. Low-ends are fine, though. I have older games that run well with Intel HD on Windows 10, they run fine. Give it a try when you get a chance when you have £25. (I'm British)

My brother has a windows 10 and i have a windows 8, Sims works just fine for me, Maybe switch to windows 7 using a harddrive?
