The Sims™ 3

The Sims 3 vs The Sims 4 which is better?
So I just bought the Sims 4 digital deluxe on Origin but I noticed some big changes in the game so I wanted to ask which is still a better game?

sims 3 is better, no argument.:steamhappy::steamsalty::steamhappy:
Sims 3 is better than Sims 4 :)
Having played Sims 4 more extensively (I bought the game recently after deciding to give it another try) I can safely say that I like them both equally. Sims 3 has way more content and you can play as different life states, it has toddlers, etc but lacks in an emotional way that makes the Sims less realistic.. Sims 4 is better graphically and the various emotional states your Sims can reach are just... brilliant. Sims multitasking is effortless and makes up for where Sims 3 lacked. However, there's not so much content and the worlds aren't as big as Sims 3. I can't say anymore though that I prefer one or the other. Both make up where the other lacks. Give it a go and see what you think, you can always request a refund if you don't like 4.
The Sims 3

Pros
  • Open world. Once you load in a map you can move to any building on it without loading screens.
  • Create a style exists as a feature that allows you to change both the color and patterns on most objects and clothing articles.
  • Even without custom content or DLC this game can be played for hundreds upon hundreds of hours. There is much to do and the replayability is extremely high.
  • Most of the expansions (not stuff packs or store content) is worthwhile. They add in new ways to play as well as many new locations, buildings, objects, etc.
  • Easy to pick up and play. It's fun for both casuals and hardcore gamers alike.
  • Plenty of mods to add to your game.

Cons

  • While load screens are not often they are EXTREMELY long. I'm talking at least 2-3 miuntes to load a world for the first time you start the game up. I have a fairly decent PC (albiet no SSD), but the only game I've seen with load times this long is The Sims 2 and Fallout 4. Expansions seem to make the load times longer which is a bummer.
  • There is a lack of timers on events such as dates and parties. Also sims will be saying they are having a bad time and you're not entirely sure why because they'll be dancing, eating food and socializing. What more do they want?
  • Moodlets can be glitchy at times.
  • The amount of DLC often scares people away. It did for me at first. However being a owner of all the expansions I can tell you that most of them while good are not even close to being essential for the game to be fun.
  • The Sims 3 store items are overpriced. It's one thing to have a bunch of xpacks and stuff packs that cost money. It's even worse when they add in a ton of microtransactions shoved in your face (Unless you turn the option off)

The Sims 4

Pros
  • Talking to other sims is so much more intuitive than The Sims 3. They can have conversations with several people at once and social events are timed and goals are clearly stated.
  • The load times while more frequent are much faster. This may change if they continue to add in more expansions (Which c'mon we know they will).
  • Lifetime wishes are much better. They give you steps to complete them. You can also change them at any time. Also the rewards are both easy to obtain and give better perks.
  • It feels more polished than The Sims 3. Some people disagree, but I find the game is much more fluent.
Cons
  • No create a style.
  • No open world.
  • Tons of content ripped from the base game. Pools weren't even a thing at launch.
  • You thought 20 dollars was a lot for an expansion? Try 40. The content while it is decent is NOT worth 60% of the games retail price.
  • If The Sims 3 was the king of cashgrabbing, then the Sims 4 would be the emperor of the universe of cashgrabbing (despite the fact they removed the store filled with microtransactions).
  • Mods don't work too well.
  • Origin only.

I would personally start off with The Sims 3 base game. If you like it consider buying The Sims 4. Play both and compare them for yourself.

The Sims 3 is a better game in my opinion. The Sims 4 is still a decent game, but it takes many steps back.

Sims 4 doesn't feel like any sims game to me AT ALL
the feeling isn't there, youknow.

I prefer Sims 3.
I like both for different reasons, but to put it shortly Sims 3 is non-linear and Sims 4 is linear. Sims 3 is open world and there's a lot of customization to it, but the objectives are not quite set in stone and it's really up to you what you want to do. In Sims 4 it isn't open world and there's far less customization, but fulfilling your "lifetime wish" requires you to do certain objectives in a certain order, and even things like throwing a party will give you goals that you can complete to earn rewards.

Personally I enjoy Sims 4 more as I'm a completionist and like to have objectives to focus on, but if you're looking for an experience with more freedom, then Sims 3 is your game.
if sims 4 had an open world and would generally just be an improvement on SIms 3 , i´d actually play it.

Since it´s not, Sims 3 is still the best Sims in my own humble opinion...
There is the emotion system for the Sim 4 and Sim 3 does not have this and its only basic so if your into seeing how your sim react and progress because of this then Sim 4 will be good to get!

But sim 4 is also expensive to get too with its all its DLC so sim 3 is good to start. :)
i tried the sims 4 recently... bah, no way... It´s worse in so many ways than sims 3. The smoother scripts and some new feature really don´t make up for the lack of others for which i love Sims 3. (Lack of cutomization options for clothes is just one thing that comes to mind...)

Matter of taste i guess, but after trying it out, no thanks. And no way i´ll support them with even more ridiculous pricings than Sims3, that´s bad enough :P

I´ll probably stick to Sims 3 until something can really compete with it... My honest opinion ...

Sims 3:

You work to have fun in this game, no check-boxes on parties and weddings to determine success (Sims 4 made those events jobs apparently)

There are 100 different ways of making money so each generation of sims can be a little different.

You have an Open World with: Shared Story Progression that makes the world feel alive, Seasons and meteorology, world events like Sim fests , full moons or weather stone effects.

Very random game at times, getting to surprise you.

Lots of permanent Life-states.

Create a World and Create a Style tools.

Game Worlds are 100% maleable.

Ton of Custom content: Worlds, lots, sims, skins, objects and mods.

Vehicles like bicicles, bikes, and cars.

Pets

All at 1 loading screen.

Sims 4:

The game tries too hard to be entertaining: All sims behave like hiperactive noisy persons just to confuse you that something relevant its happening in your screen.

Better performance for laptops and tablets ¿ I guess ? Sims1 and 2 performs better.

Multiple loading screens that get longer over time so your laptop doesn't catch on fire.

Twice the total price for 1/4 of the content of the Sims3

Predictable gameplay: You cannot do wrong in this game, accidental death its suuuper rare.

Less traits, less Lifewhises.

Emotions: To make you able to make an angry poop or a energized poop, woooow ! Also, comes with annoying gingle everytime thay switch, and they switch a lot.

Feeling like you are under home arrest.

Some of the best furniture its locked until you reach the end of your specific career.

The interface and world map from a Facebook game.

Sims teleport around town, worst than Sims1 (In that game you had at least to call a cab to pick you up)

Still 32 bits mode, because moms and private school teens doens't know what 64-bits is in 2017.
