However, this sim will probably just find something else annoying to do. Sims in the active household don't generally leave the home lot on their own unless they're supposed to go to work or school and the carpool or bus shows up. So if you want this sim to go out on the town, you'll probably have to at least tell him to go somewhere.
In one save in the past i grew this massive vegetable and fruit plot with just one sim, it took until 12:30pm from waking up at 6am to sort out hygiene, toilet and hunger concerns and then then rest is spent on watering plants. never needed a sprinkler, if i had a few other sims in that household, the time would be cut right down to a few game minutes.
so unless you are producing a massive field full of vegetables, fruits and other growables. in order to sell, otherwise sprinklers are not needed at all, so long as some time is set aside for the task each game day, you'll be good to go.
But anyways there is also this alternative if you don’t want to use retuner https://modthesims.info/d/349614/no-autonomous-sprinkler-09-11-10-compatible-with-all-latest-versions-and-games.html
