Sims 3 not launching on new computer
Recently bought a new computer and installed The Sims 3. Launcher appears fine, I click the start button, the launcher disappears and the button in the Steam library switches back to the green Play option after a few seconds.

I've had this game for years on another computer, same Windows 11 system without issue, but on this new computer I can't get past the launcher. I uninstalled and installed only the base game, same result. I also attempted every fix I saw suggested online with no success. I hoping it's something simple that I'm overlooking but would appreciate any ideas.

Does your computer have a 12th-gen Intel processor? If so, that's the issue: Sims 3 doesn't start correctly on those CPUs. The workaround is to manually limit the game to using one core while it loads. You can accomplish this with a patch made by Lazy Duchess:

There are also other options discussed in that thread starting on page 5.

It is a 12th-gen Intel processor. I followed the steps provided in the link and after downloading a missing .dll file everything appears to work fine. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply!
