There are other suggestions in that thread as well, starting on page 5.
Turn on The Sims 3 Launcher along with the task manager
before clicking play, go to details on the Task Manger and
scroll down and look for "Sims3Launcher.exe" when you find it,
left click it and click "Set affinity" once that window pops up
unselect the "All processers" box then check the box that says
"CPU 1".
After doing that, click OK and minimize the task manager and click play.
Once the game loads up, go back to the task manager and check the
"All processers" box and turn off the task manager then enjoy your game!
This works with all launchers and with TSM, but with TSM you'll have to do this with origin.exe instead.
You'll have to do this every time you wanna play the game which sucks
but we just blame EA for that one.
I tried the fix you posted by setting the affinity and it worked once a few days ago, but now it won't work at all.
One thing I've noticed is that my launcher name isn't "Sims3Launcher.exe" but it's "Sims3LauncherW.exe". Could that mean something?
I'm sad because I've heard the sims 3 is so fun but not being able to play sucks because I just bought it, lol.
Are you playing through origin? if so thats probably the reason.
Although this work for me, I have play this game before so I know how this game is suppose to run and its kind of lagging for me so I stop playing probably 1 day after this post.
I think its best we wait for EA to fix this.
Just to be clear, the reason you're seeing Sims3LauncherW.exe, with the W, is because that's what disc and Steam installs use. The game itself will use TS3W.exe, also with the W. So when you follow any instructions that require something to do with an .exe, you always need to use the version with the W. (The non-W versions are for Origin installs only.)
The Task Manager affinity setting should work in all cases, clumsy as it may be, so if it's not for you, perhaps something else is going on here.
They acknowledge that the issue exist as many people are complaining. weather they will fix it or not, idk, like you said. they have move on
