Sims 3 won't launch after launcher
I got a new laptop. One of the reason is to play this game. but it wont launch the game at all. I found on the internet that this is a common issue on window 11. but all the suggestion that could fix it does not fix it for me.(also I know someone with window 11 and play sims 3 just fine so its not everyone that got affected)

I will just explain the "symptoms" so someone might understand what is wrong with it.

When I install the game, the first thing I do was go to the sims 3 shop to download the stuff i bought from the store. That is when I notice something was wrong, because after I download it. it wouldn't install.

If I launch the game, it will say the sims 3 launcher is in tray like it would in normal game. but the game will never launch.

If you bring out the launcher again and click play again. the launcher will disappear this time.

If I go back to steam library and click play from there again now. it won't even launch the launcher this time.

If I validate the file. it will say 4 files failed and will reacquired.

After that the game launcher will launch again but the game wont launch. And so the cycle goes.

___________
The recent one I did was reset the PC because I really don't know what to do anymore.
I have install some stuff which I really don't want to and is only when I am really desperate.
I try re downloading many time.
I try launching without the launcher.
I try launching from origin.
I try the game with no DLC and the one thing that is different is that. when the game launcher won't launch and I try to validate the file. there won't be any failed files. when if I have my DLC its always 4 failed files.
I try to play the sims 4 game too, although I didn't try it that hard, I just want to check if that game work and. sims 4 won't launch for me either.

So if anyone got any idea. please share.
Thanks

Does your computer have a 12th-gen Intel processor? If so, please see this post:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/Sims-3-won-t-open-Alder-Lake-Intel-12th-gen-CPU/m-p/11524785#M250970

There are other suggestions in that thread as well, starting on page 5.

Hey thanks, I do have the 12 gen i9. like I said I don't really want to download anything. I was reading and pretty sure it was on the next page I found the solution.

Turn on The Sims 3 Launcher along with the task manager
before clicking play, go to details on the Task Manger and
scroll down and look for "Sims3Launcher.exe" when you find it,
left click it and click "Set affinity" once that window pops up
unselect the "All processers" box then check the box that says
"CPU 1".

After doing that, click OK and minimize the task manager and click play.

Once the game loads up, go back to the task manager and check the
"All processers" box and turn off the task manager then enjoy your game!

This works with all launchers and with TSM, but with TSM you'll have to do this with origin.exe instead.

You'll have to do this every time you wanna play the game which sucks
but we just blame EA for that one.

Hi!
I tried the fix you posted by setting the affinity and it worked once a few days ago, but now it won't work at all.

One thing I've noticed is that my launcher name isn't "Sims3Launcher.exe" but it's "Sims3LauncherW.exe". Could that mean something?

I'm sad because I've heard the sims 3 is so fun but not being able to play sucks because I just bought it, lol.

Hi there.
Are you playing through origin? if so thats probably the reason.

Although this work for me, I have play this game before so I know how this game is suppose to run and its kind of lagging for me so I stop playing probably 1 day after this post.
I think its best we wait for EA to fix this.

Did you submit a ticket on the EA website? Have they said they would fix it? EA considers The Sims 3 to be a finished game and they don't usually make changes to it anymore. They spend their time working on The Sims 4 and promoting that game.

Just to be clear, the reason you're seeing Sims3LauncherW.exe, with the W, is because that's what disc and Steam installs use. The game itself will use TS3W.exe, also with the W. So when you follow any instructions that require something to do with an .exe, you always need to use the version with the W. (The non-W versions are for Origin installs only.)

The Task Manager affinity setting should work in all cases, clumsy as it may be, so if it's not for you, perhaps something else is going on here.
