Worth buying all dlc
I personally enjoy sims 3 but I don't own any expensions for it so now that theres a sale I wanted to ask you community folk if it is worth to buy all the expensions.

You won't have time to play with the features provided by dozens of DLCs I guess, maybe you should pick a few you like and buy those only.

If you get all of the expansion be aware it can be stressful on your system, so if you don't have decent CPU and RAM it may be slow at times.

Just answered in another thread, musthaves are:
Ambitions
World Adventures
Supernatural

You might consider other expansions that could meet your taste, but avoid Pets.
Do not buy stuffpacks. Ever.

I don't know anyone who likes all the EPs and SPs - most people like 2-5 of them, and never use the rest.

Which, however, is totally a matter of personal taste. Some people couldn't play without Supernatural or Pets. For me, my must-haves are Ambitions, Generations, and Seasons (because all three add a LOT to the base game). I find Pets, Supernatural, and Showtime to be exeedingly annoying, and all the rest are kind of meh.

There are guides, tho, that some of us have written, to tell you what's in each pack and help you decide.

Great justifications.

The expansions that add most to the game are
Seasons
Generations
Ambitions

Supernatural and Pets depends on your taste, but they are good additions too.

Late Night and Showtime are very similar in concept and you wont notice much difference, but expands the base game with some interesting new carrers and items.

World Aventures and University are like rabbit holes. They are only to skipt the base game to do something different that break the rutine of the game. Into the future is also like a rabbit hole. They are mostly interesting, but they are for play them once and forget.

Island Paradise only works in one particular world. You probably want it ony once you are tired of the base game. But some people reports performance problems, so install it at your own risk.

But all expansions depends on the taste and you always get a different answer.

I remember you helped me with this game years ago, you should be a mod here haha

Only buy the DLC that appeal to you. Stuff packs are useless, I wouldn't waste money on those. And universally loved/essential ones are Seasons, Generations and Pets. Maybe Ambitions. If you want new worlds/themes/gameplay then only if you like the look of them, maybe get University Life or Supernatural. Overall it's really on a case by case basis and it's worth looking into each dlc before buying them instead of getting them all, as like I said, stuff packs are useless and what you buy should be tailored to you for a game like this.

this game is absolutely funny its a complete joy. I still have it on my computer its funny how you can progress and have them do absolutely anything. its the best out of the sims series.

in youtube are vids of every pack, jsut get the ones that appeal to you.
it boils all down to personal taste.
there is one main diff tho, some packs only add stuff like furniture and so, not really new gameplay.

People who say stuff packs are a waste are dorks. You get a lot of extra goodies with the stuff packs and at the current price of 5$ I think they are worth it.

Hell, some mods even REQUIRE you to own certain stuff packs so having them improves your modding capabilities!

(Some people don't reccommend pets which doesn't make any sense, having strays and stuff in your neighborhood helps add immersion and you never have to own a pet yourself)

At $5 a pop, there's not much reason to not buy them all because that's about as cheap as they get and it doesn't happen very often. Stuff Packs were the last things that I bought and it was mainly just to complete the collection. The value added is not greater than or equal to the cost, IMO, even at $5 each. Well, except for Katy Perry's Sweet Treats (no longer available (and there was much rejoicing)); the value added is so low you'd have to pay me to install it.

As far as the EPs, though, my list (from must have to meh) is:
Ambitions
Seasons
Generations
Supernatural
University Life
World Adventures
Into the Future
Pets
Island Paradise - actually pretty decent, but the included world has issues
Late Night
Showtime

Followed immediately by these no-cost mods from nraas.wikispaces.com:
Overwatch - keeps saved game corruption to a minimum
Error Trap - reduces the lock-ups, freezes, and some lagginess in the game
Master Controller (with Cheats add-on) - fixes what the first two can't
Debug Enabler (sometimes fixes what MC can't)
Traveler (DO NOT EVER accept the free vacation that lets the kids have free rein - the adults frequently don't come back, even with Traveler installed)
Story Progression (because EA's story progression doesn't progress and isn't much of a story)
Woohooer (because it turns my game into the perv capital of the Simiverse - seriously, though, it has a couple of decent uses, but really is a bit overboard if you're not careful with the settings)
