I would say, tho: avoid the exchange. It's rampant with corrupt files and other issues. Instead, the official worlds are in the store:

Why don't they sell through Steam? Because EA is breaking the agreement that when you sell your game through Steam, you're also supposed to make the microtransactions available through Steam too. This is what led to all EA's games being pulled from the Steam store for a couple weeks a few years ago. They're back now, and still not following the rules, but I guess Valve's OK with that? I dunno. Wish Valve would crack down on that, and on games selling with third party DRM, myself.
I would not know since I paid via coin by purchasing them via Origin and selecting the worlds I wanted to purchase, along with some items I needed for another mod, and a "cheaty" item that once you place a kid in the playpen they take care of themselves without much "parenting" required. :P
As for corruption, yes there are items for free available there, but those DO have a heavy chance of being badly made. TSR is much better. http://www.thesimsresource.com
As for the maps you want, they are okay, but I've had better luck with heavy scripted mods on custom worlds available for free. Some of the lots on those exchange "paid" sections are buggy, and have pathfinding issues. It is up to you if you want to buy them. I did because I'm OCD like that. :D http://www.mysimrealty.com/Sims3_Worlds.html Is another good site. Many, hard to find mods, are on personal blogs/sites.
Just follow these tips and you should be okay:

And do get these programs, one helps in merging package files and the other checks files for inconsistencies.

I don't remember if Cruinne mentioned those in her guide or not, so I made mention of them in this post.
