The Sims™ 3

Are there any versions of the default worlds but unpopulated?
I'll put it this way: Almost every time I play the Sims 3, I end up going on a killing spree and annihilating as many of the locals as possible because I just don't like them. AND my attempts at depopulating the towns, contrary to expectations, almost always ends up making the game horribly laggy to the point of being unplayable.

SO... I want to know if there are any versions of the existing towns but... y'know... with none of the Sims in.
Otherwise I guess I could just try to get rid of them all at the character creation stage... though I doubt that will be as effective.

... Also I have serious limitations on where I can have my Sims live due to display shelf issues, but that isn't really something anyone can help with (specifically I downloaded a display shelf mod for gemstones which lets me put tons of gems on display, BUT it only works properly on certain lots, while on other lots I can only use every second slot, which is useless).

I don't know of any player-made empty versions of EA worlds, although many players who use Origin find that they have a world called Adventureland. This world is just Sunset Valley with only two residents and was probably left in the game as a mistake.

There are plenty of player-made empty worlds though. In fact, many creators have uploaded both an empty version and a populated version of their creations.

Additionally, using Total Annihilation on the entire population (minus the one active sim, since you need to run it in live mode) shouldn't cause permanent lag. If you run the command with ErrorTrap and Overwatch also in place, then save/quit/reload, is the lag still there? I can imagine you might see temporary lag as the game regenerates some homeless sims, which it will do no matter what, but after that everything should be smooth.

For the display shelf issues, is there any pattern to which lots are affected, for example ones on a foundation or stilts?

Um... If you mean the command that totally erases someone's record from history, I wasn't using that. I was using a gun mod, making a kill-box, and having my sim personally murder everyone in town... THEN going to the mausoleum, taking out all the gravestones, and deleting them.

Not that I could see. It consistently works in some places and not others. I've kept a record of places where it works fine so my sims can live in just those spots. I also marked some maps as okay and some as "cursed" when I couldn't find anywhere that worked.
For instance... I only found one spot that worked on Starlight Shores... and it was a custom lot I forced into the lower left corner of the map by the motorway. For that slot, the display shelves worked only in the lower HALF of the lot that was closer to the main road.
In Appaloosa Plains, I had more success with the lots on the upper level, while the lots on the lower elevation were all useless.
Alas my previous favourite world Midnight Hollow is completely cursed. I couldn't find a single lot on the entire map that worked right. Fortunately Dragon Valley and Moonlight Falls have quite a few working locations. As it stands though, the only way to check is to personally buy every single home and test them one by one.

"Instead"? Instead of what? I am using Master Controller, but that is completely separate from the issue at hand. I need an empty world... not a world I have to personally erase everyone from one at a time. I can already do that.

Use the Total Annihilation - function in NRAAS.

Doesn't that only work on one Sim at a time?
