Steam controller support
I'm thinking about buying the sims 3 and all it's EP DLC's. In my younger days (feel like an old man after saying that lol); I use to play the sims (original) on windows 98 and then XP and I still have the original cds but the game don't like windows 10.

So thinking about playing this on my Steam Link and wondering if the game supports the Steam Controller as this would be a good pastime to enjoy relaxing on the couch or in bed on the big screen.

The game doesn't support any controllers, but of course there are user configurations for the Steam Controller when in Big Picture mode. My experience is that keyboard + mouse is a ton better, but eh, at least the controller is easy to configure (I just hate all the messing around).

Ok well I'll have to look at configuring it then as I really want to play it on a tv while laying down. Good thing about the Steam controller is that it has a mouse track pad so I should be able to use this. Also has the built in on screen keyboard for typing if needed. But are there downloadable configs or do it have to be done by hand for setting up ?

There were downloadable configs last time I tried it - like more than a year ago. They should still be there though, and maybe someone's come up with better ones in the mean time.

Lol as much as I would agree with you, especially in FPS's. Keyboard and mouse isn't too good when laying down in bed or on the sofa to play a game that doesn't need fast reactions.

Also this...

They don't work out too well, I know I've tried. I use the computer for my shooters, and Steam link for my more relaxing games that I can play in bed or on the sofa. Also if I bring my gaming keyboard and mouse to bed with me and a lap board, I could be single again lol.

My two cents. . . .I rarely have a need to use the keyboard. The only need I have for it is to use the alt key for precise lot placements and objects on wall hieght (that I haven't played with too much tbo), and to use the ctr+shift+c commands. Other than that, I just use my wireless mouse on a ridig pad. If that helps any. I completely understand people wanting/needing to use controllers though. No hate/salt from me on that one. I haven't had much luck with controller schemes with games that don't support it through steam. But, like stated prior, there should be some configurations to fill your needs.

Really? Why would you even bother trying to play this game with a controller. I actually prefer the controller over the vastly inferior Mouse & Keyboard but in this case, this game is litterally built with M&K in mind so a controller would be horrid to use with any Sims game.

After playing this now, Steam Controller will be fine, however an xbox controller or any other would be an issue.

Remember a steam controller is designed with mouse and keyboard in mind so everything from typing names and comand keys can be done with ease. Anything a mouse track pad can do can be done as well with the built in track pad on the controller as well.

I think a lot of people assume this is unplayable because they are using basic controllers. Steam controller is not a basic controller, it's built around the idea of needing a keyboard and mouse at times for games.
