horse on roof
so i have a horse on my roof... idk how the wild horse got on my roof but it keeps naying every 30 seconds and i'm about to delete the sim.... i tried dismantling the walls in that corner so the roof vanishes and it just floated in the air...

i looked it up and no one else had this issue or problem... any of you experience this and know how to fix it?

Hover over the horse to get its full name. Then open the cheats console (crtl-shift-C) and enter "reset sim firstname lastname" without quotes, and the horse should disappear.

The most common reason for this kind of thing to happen is if you use certain cheats, for example using MoveObjects On to move a sim (including a pet) can break routing on that particular lot. The contstrainfloorelevation false cheat can also break routing whether you used it or someone else did while buiding the lot.

If this happens repeatedly, you can move your sim to a different lot. Or you can go to Edit Town, evict the sim, save the empty house to the library, bulldoze the lot, put back the library copy, and place your sim back in the house. (Or you can replace the house with something else.) Your sim would lose their promised wishes and opportunities but keep their jobs and relationships.

This shouldn't happen repeatedly though. When it does, it almost inevitably means something is broken about the lot, whether the routing is borked or a spawner appeared or was moved to somewhere it shouldn't be.

I understand you don't want to use mods in general, but if wild animals continue to cause problems for you, it could help to add NRaas Register and use its settings to limit the wild animal population.

Having horses do things they aren't supposed to do and having them get stuck inside things is really quite common with the Pets DLC. It's one of the biggest reasons why I disabled PETS, although I miss the clothing options. Caution: if you try to disable/uninstall a DLC, you will probably not be able to log into the game again until you either manually remove the leftover registries or use some software that will automatically scrub them out for you.

Also, the resetsim command that puzzlezaddict mentioned usually works well, and there is also a command that resets all the sims on your game, although I can't remember it at the moment.

This is true, but there's no way a horse should land on a roof. Spawners are supposed to be on the ground, and there's no way for a sim of any kind to access a roof from lower down unless the lot's routing is completely borked or someone uses MoveObjects On to move them.

The cheat is "resetsim *" without quotes, as in, just type an asterisk instead of a sim name.

Yes, spawners should be on the ground, but horses often spawn inside gym room floors and are permanently stuck there and don't even die. They also used to spawn inside my gate-locked/door locked houses. They would spawn inside walls. They would spawn inside the museum, and pretty much anywhere. They also (and this is not a bug, but a normal part of the DLC) eat all the wild vegetation until there is none to harvest. The reset command didn't always work. I was fed up with trying to lure them out of places or demolishing and rebuilding places where they spawned. I finally got fed up and just uninstalled Pets.

Whenever I finally install the NRAAS mods, I'll reinstall Pets, but for now, I'd rather not deal with the hassle.

I wasn't saying horses don't spawn in inconvenient places. I was saying that they shouldn't spawn on a roof, as in, an elevated location. All of your examples involve horses at ground level.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see a horse stuck in the floor of a building with a foundation. And any building could still have a spawner on it if the spawner was already present when the lot was built, especially if the builder didn't think to look for spawners. The game will place spawners on empty lots when the Pets expansion is first active, and you wouldn't see them unless you went into BuyDebug.

Oh, I see. So you are saying that any odd spawning should still be on ground level. I don't remember if the gym floor in Sunset Valley has a foundation on it, but the horse would be up to its knees inside the floor. Also, some of my Sims, or their children, would "magically" appear outside the 2nd floor of their house with an appendage stuck inside a wall, and things like that, although that might not be a Pets DLC issue. It hasn't happened since I uninstalled Pets, though. Now, I just get the normal, ground-level Sims, who can't move but are not stuck inside anything.

aight bet, a screenshot will be posted in sims with a wild horse on my roof, i tried multiple commands to move it and failed. i literally deleted world because it wouldn't die. and it was above my bedroom naying every 5 seconds max speed. when i said every 30 seconds i was was actually wrong.. maybe it got more annoying after it grew green stench and had flies flying around it. but it was pretty bad.

oooh sweet, i won't post the screenshot then. but yeah a horse spawned on the freaking corner of my roof (above my bedroom in the perfect corner for the house, so when i painted my screen was close enough to the horse to hear it.) it was annoying... like i'm about to uninstall that dlc, hopefully that removes the animals.

You might be able to turn off the horses in the options menu. I can't remember for sure.
However, if you do uninstall Pets, be aware that uninstalling a DLC often prevents people from opening the game at all because some registries will remain. You will need to remove them by hand or with software or a script that will remove them for you.
