Unlockable items/clothes/ect for the game through the sims3 website or other means?

I'd seen somewhere about uploading either screenshots or game memories to the sims3 website. Upload 10 get XXXX, upload 25(?) YYYYY, upload 50 ZZZZ. There was like clothes, a stove, a computer, I don't really remeber. Did I imagine this, read wrong? Is there a list of all unlockable content? Like, I can make a ghost sim now.

Sounds like possible rewards for the Sims 3 site itself. Check those. I think you only get appearance rewards for you profile though. The only way to unlock items for in game use is to redeem your "cd key" through the same website. That will get you "free" items that go with whatever EP, SP that you register. I could be wrong. But check the site and search there.

Yep there used to be such unlockable freebies like that some years ago, but they've all been removed as EA no longer supported the feature. And if memory serves me correctly, they were used to be tied with SIMPort, that social feature they added with the Showtime EP.

It used to be:

• Grill after uploading 1 memory
  
• Bookcase after uploading 5 memories
  
• Computer after uploading 10 memories
  
• Hot Tub after uploading 25 memories
  
• Leotard after uploading 50 memories
  
• Toddler Outfit after uploading 100 memories
  
• Teen Top after uploading 200 memories

I don't know if it still works, or if there's anyway to unlock these things these days, however. Maybe they're just unlocked by default now? The grill and bookcase look familiar to me, and I don't think I've ever uploaded a memory. You'd have to check your Purchase History at the Sims 3 store.

I just checked my account. And, they don't appear to be downloaded by default. And, they aren't on the list of the "free" items that can be downloaded. I Just checked the link you posted and I have never seen any of those items, either in my game or on the sims page. It might be that they are too old. I know that you can unlock badges on the website, but I have never seen anything that suggested in game rewards for completing them (neat feature, though). Maybe I'm looking in the wrong area. Or maybe they just took them down. Either way, It'd be interesting to find out. I haven't played around with uploading anything to the site. Maybe I should give it a try.

You know, years ago I might have uploaded a memory or two before disabling all that in my game. Hrm!

A way to test: Upload 1 memory. Then go to the Sims 3 Store, log in with the same account you used for the upload, then go to Store > My Store Account > Purchase History.

Edited to Add: Though having just looked through my own purchase history, they're not there. Hrm.

Thanks for the replies all. I still can't find where I seen this, I uploaded 40 some odd screenshots to the sims site and nadda, maybe that's not the same as memories. I'll have to check purchase history, thanks. I'm just going to try buydebug if I can't figure it out.

Yeah, not the same as memories - memories have to be uploaded from your Sim's scrapbook.

That said, I just uploaded a quick 10, and all I got were badges - no new items. So, that's sad.
