That depends on you opinion. Mine is not.
Is it worth $66.50 for the Collection? In your opinion... Does it bring a lot of Gameplay, or Content?
I have a very tight budget, and this game has gotten more of my money than any other, but I feel it has been worth it for the base game and about 6 expansions that I have purchased from sales.
Sims 3 very likely runs better now than it did when first issued because more powerful computers permit running more expansion packs smoothly. I guess it depends on the power of your graphics card. I normally have 7 installed though have run 9.
Obviously, you need Vanilla to start then I would suggest Ambitions, University and World Adventures. But it is a matter of choice and you will need to investigate which expansions, if any, will suit you best.
There is a huge amount of content if you go only with the three expansions I suggest. They will give endless hours of entertainment and a lot of different goals to achieve.
If you have not played Sims before and you enjoy sandbox type God games then, YES, Sims 3 is definitely still a good title for 2022.
The only issue is with it's performance. It runs like hot garbage on modern Windows because it never received x64 support(Mac users atleast got x64). There are a number of fixes though that can help in the Guides section.
Both games have their charms and their bugs. Both games are, sadly, shelved in terms of bug fixes. 2 Didn't milk us for every nickle and dime we had though...
