The Sims™ 3

The Sims™ 3

"Uploading process not complete"
Every time I try to exit out of the launcher, (or attempt to shut down my laptop while the launcher is running), it gives me a warning "uploading process not complete". For starters, I don't login to the launcher nor game. Secondly, I don't have anything in the upload queue.

Now, ever since this "uploading process not complete" started showing, sims 3 has been freezing - every 10-20 in-game minutes, it freezes up for about a minute (real-time) which is a massive pain. I've changed my rendering settings to be low with default refresh rate, but it didn't affect it. Even changing the speed of the game doesn't prevent the freeze. I've tried restarting my laptop (nothing running in the background), and haven't enabled cheats; but to no avail.

The game was running just fine before this uploading process issue.

What am I missing here...?

UPDATE: Went to verify the integrity of the game, was given "3 files failed to validate and will be reacquired"?

Which means Steam will reinstall those files. Fixed and done. You don't need to do anything else, unless the game still gives you the problem message.

UPDATE: Steam did not reinstall those files, so I un-installed the game then re-installed it after clearing away the old files. Went to verify the integrity of the game again, and was given "3 files failed to validate and will be reacquired" once again. Yikes.

Did you disable the launcher somehow so you could play without it? Maybe Steam is trying to give you that launcher, which it would consider part of the normal download for the game.

Every time I run TS3 and then validate the files, it tells me a few files need to be downloaded. Every time. I believe the validation process is trying to replace files that normally get modified during normal game runs. I ignore it.

You can't play Sims 3 unless you go through the launcher, and you can't play another game unless you close the launcher itself under hidden icons. Just to be clear, it's not possible to disable the launcher, at least not that I know of out of my 700+ hours of game play.

Sorry, I seem to have misread your post about not logging into the launcher. For some reason I thought you were saying you didn't use the launcher at all. Bad me. I never log in, either.

So, how are you making your saves? Are you using the Save button or the Save As button? Using the Save button keeps overwriting the same save file, which can cause a lot of problems. Always use the Save As button and it's best if you make sequentially-numbered saves. You can either go back and delete old excess saves every so often, or you can use the same 10 - 12 save names over and over. These days, I do the latter.

I usually do "Save and Quit", which is the same as overwriting the same save file, but I'll go ahead and try your method. I've recently created a new sim and it hasn't been freezing like the other one I've played for a about a week (managed to top medical career, shame it's not playable anymore). Hopefully it's not too late and works out!

I usually minimise the game after its loaded to the menu and close the launcher. It always says the not finished uploading message but it't never caused me an issue.

You do not need the launcher to play TS3. The executable itself can directly ran to launch the game without the launcher or Steam. Done it this way for years, I almost never use the launcher.

whenever there is an issue with the launcher itself, someone always suggests disabling the launcher instead of seeing if there is a way to find a workaround that allows you to use the launcher. In order to download anything from the store, you need access to the launcher.

i run on linux through proton and the launcher always crashes when i try to access the uploads. it also tells me there is something of interest in uploads with an exclamation mark icon and for the split second i have access and see before it crashes, there is a list of items with the same names from what i can make out with a brown box icon to each.

i'd love to get into the uploads section and find out what is going on there, i really would. i also want to download riverview, but as it stands that is an impossibility.

Ya I too had that problame of 3 missing file in past as well , it got fixed when I formatted the pc , it has some thing to do with dllhost getting corrupted via virus or cause of u using windows update which's support were close , just format it once and it should fix , it's less likely fix otherwise

This worked for me... first time I verified... I had 11 that didn't work.. .so I exited out and went back in immediately and reverified. This time it had only 7... next time only 3 this last time none...
