It's like they have a "Council of being ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" where EA every day asks themself and the others the question: "How can we milk the whales and screw over our sheep customers today hmmm?"
Very well said, I think we can all agree that EA are greedy AF.
I honestly question how they, most if not all of them being Sims players since the Sims 1, can continue praising the Sims 4 when they should be the first to be able to tell that the Sims 4 is simply an inferior game to its last two predecessors. EA is treating the Sims 4 more like a house renovation simulator than life simulator, and these Game Changer YouTubers are only playing into it.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I've also noticed how EA are focusing on making the game look good with all these items but the gameplay is just missing.
So, I'm sorry but I'm not that shallow to play a nice looking game with no gameplay whatsoever. Most of the time when I play the Sims 4 I just sit there and do nothing because I get bored in less than 10 minutes.
I think the Sims 4 franchise is a total failure & these gamechangers are nothing but puppets for EA. I don't like any of them anyways. I will never buy any pack from the Sims 4 and will continue playing the Sims 2 and 3 because they at least have something to offer.
And just like puppets, they're completely soulless. Even during the whole Kits fiasco, they've kept their criticisms bare-bones and minimal despite their comments sections saying otherwise. Hell, even the Journey to Batuu game pack was received well by some Game Changers.
It's sad how these people are supposed to be the gateway of communication between the fans and EA - no wonder most people playing the Sims 4 right now are either new players who never played, or can't play, the Sims 2 or 3, or people who like building houses. I don't know if you know him, but LazyGameReviews (or LGR) was once a Game Changer but he got kicked out because he was actually truthful and upfront. EA is an absolute joke.
Wow, I didn't know he was a gamechanger before but I've literally watched all his Sims reviews and I love them exactly because of his honesty. But then again, the fact that he was kicked out shows you how well EA deals with honesty.
EA Gamechangers are YouTubers who are 'sponsored' by EA to receive whatever content from the game they're specialized in (i.e the Sims) early for reviews so that they could give feedback from themselves and from the fans. Think of it as a mixture of a game tester, salesperson and spokesperson/representative; they show the fans what's coming next and, let's face it, overhype it all, give feedback to that DLC and for future endeavours and tell the developers directly what the fans are happy and unhappy about.
On paper they're supposed to be fan-first all the way but if you've looked at their videos on controversies like Journey to Batuu or My First Pet Stuff, you'd find that most GameChangers' criticisms are far less muted compared to fans' to even praise, and are usually full of excuses for EA's laziness and lack of care for the series. You'd know they're a GameChanger because at the start of most of their videos, especially on reviews, they'd start the video by saying something among the lines of "This video is sponsored by EA GameChangers".
If you want some examples, Plumbella, Lil Simsie and TheSimSupply pops in my mind, but I'm sure there's tons more. I should probably note that even though most of them are soulless when it comes to EA, they're not necessarily bad YouTubers. It's just frustrating to see EA get away with their BS time and time again because they're in an echo chamber of praise and love, least helped by these GameChangers. If you want a honest ex-GameChanger, I'd recommend Lazy Game Reviews. He's stopped his Sims 4 reviews after Snowy Escape because of how dire things are on that game, but each and every one of his reviews is top notch and honest.
I think LGR is not a Sims gamechanger since he has his own opinion on reviews and is not always positive on content (especially that content that is universally known by the community as bad or very bad). I think he was one of those cases where EA stopped sending him free codes to review Sims content because his reviews are too honest and accurate.
Some slight aesthetic variations on existing build mode items, new patterns or colours on clothing, even hairstyles have some near-clones.
The gameplay that DLCs provide, regardless of their size as a Pack or an Expansion, is largely negligible. New careers aren't nearly as exciting or involving as trailers would have you believe because everything flows according to the base game and its limited AI.
Instead of refining and improving on existing systems, they just throw more onto the pile. That'll be $50, enjoy raising another skill to 10 for some emotes.
Yes, thats the feeling people have with the game when they say its being milked for every cent. They only add more. Even in 2021, for a game that is a 2014 title. Because its easier to do this than do a brand new game and close the last title DLC content. Its hard to do innovation and give us Sims 5 with the personalities of Sims 2, open world of Sims 3 and build/buy mode of Sims 4 and without performance issues. Thats how hard EA has fallen with this franchise, unfortunately :(
