Is showtime worth it?

I'm really split on it because on one hand it would complete the celeb system in the game but on the other hand the reviews for it seem really mixed. I don't know anybody who has the expansion please tell me if you think it was worth it and if not give me a better expansion you liked.

Imho, No. But, it really does depend on idividual preferences.

For my part, I found the careers very tedius and gave up on them. But I keep the ep installed as I love the genie benefits. Marry one or have a child by one for some interesting variety. I would not buy it again at anywhere near normal price for so little use though.

I love Showtime, it reminds me old Makin' Magic but with improved graphics :) making a Magician, Singer or Acrobat sim to make shows like in old Sim 1 is good enough for me. Also I'm currently playing Genie sim (freed from dusty lamp) and he can ensorsel other sims (this spell adds sim stranger to your household for 4 sim hours, so you can see their inventory, command them to repair, cook, garden or get a a job so they will have a progress). This part is very entertaining because allows me to control the town without changing households. Also genies can clean self or others and can summon food so you won't need a fridge or shower :)
I'm really excited about my genie and I believe Showtime is well worth it.
Also there's many achievements for Showtime pack, related to added careers and interactions (like ensorsel 100 sims for genie or perform a show as genie, etc)
