Haven't been messing with EA much have you? TS3 and its stuff used to go on sale during the seasonal sales (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall) with (very) occasional midweek madness or publisher deals. Since Steam and EA have more or less made up, EA has been trying to push TS4 and its newer Origin-only content. The best you can do is put the stuff you want on your wishlist and keep your fingers crossed. It does go on sale, but not nearly as predictably as it did before the grand reconciliation.
Also, I see a slight grammatical error of my previous message "...and still on the fence..." should have been "...and am still on the fence..." or "...and still am ..." Oh well. Nevertheless, my point was able to get across. I am not a fan of grammatical and spelling errors and this dislike is multiplied if/when I am the one who makes such. Have a fun one and God Bless!
But that's just the problem; when it comes to the franchise, EA's focused solely on marketing the fourth game and have seem to left the third game fully in the dust. For more than a year, the DLCs for the third game have all been $20, not even dropping during the seasonal sales. If there's not even a price drop during the seasonal sales, chances of them dropping any time soon are not good.
This is about par for the course. TS2 players voiced similar gripes after TS3 released because EA did just about the same thing. I would not be surprised to find TS players griping about the same thing after TS2 came out, but that was a bit before I picked up the franchise. EA doesn't want to keep messing with back catalog stuff. They'll continue to sell it and you can still get a lot of their older games, but they hardly ever go on sale. I don't think they're averse to the money they could be making as much as they're averse to the technical problems that are part and parcel of older games. The thread right next to this one was basically "I can't get Riverview to load. Help!" and there's another about "I can't get the consignment store to work." And that's just in the past day or two.
they went on sale like three months ago. So it's still possible that they'll go on sale again during the summer sale.
I'm guessing their strategy is to not have anything from Sims 3 on sale when they are having any sort of Sims 4 sale.
