Are there any mod to play multiplayer?

If you mean being able to play with online friends in a common neighborhood in real time, no. There are some online social features like posting to your wall, sending and receiving gifts (inventory items and stuff), and whatnot. I think the closest Maxis came was in the Showtime expansion where you could SimPort your Sim to a friend's game, but even that was more like dropping a postcard in the mail than an interactive experience.

The major problem, as I understand it, is that the game only tolerates one active household at a time. There were some people a while back who tried uploading a world and then they each took turns being the active family, but I don't think it went anywhere.
