Smooth Patch by Lazy Duchess has been released!
Here is a link to the patch:

Just wanted to notify this place about it as well.

According to the tumblr post, this patch "makes the game’s logic threads run faster, speeding up loading of Buy/Build and CASt, smoother UI elements, smoother CAS".

For me this is the best thing that has happened to this game since Twallan. Feel free to give it a go!

Edit: Updated the links.

Yep its pretty good. And from my experience, it is not just CAS, CASt, build/buy mode etc. It actually improves the simulation speed as well. Especially speed 3 is dramatically improved for me after installing this patch. This is a must have and in my opinion should be at the top of every single performance guide for The Sims 3.

i downloaded it yesterday but I just wanna ask, what am I supposed to be editing to make the patch work? It says that I have to change the numbers in one of the files thay comes with the mod but there are like three different things u can change and idk which one it is. Can someone please explain lmao

You don't need to change anything for it to work. Everything can stay as they are. However:

TPS: Higher number, better performance, but more CPU usage. Read the comments in the txt file.

Debug: Either 0 or 1. If 1, it shows a pop up at the start of the game to verify if it works.

Delay: The patch patches the executable at runtime, this value delays that operation if you ever need it.

You can read the comments in the txt file to see the same things I am saying here.

If you played this game for a long time (sadly I probably have like 3000 hours since 2011 .p) you can immediately notice smooth animations in the initial loading screen that loads the main menu. More noticeable in game proof is the object spinning rate when you preview an item in build/buy mode. If it spins faster than usual (depending on the TPS value), that means this patch works. Hope it works out!

The updated link mentions that you might need to run the executable as admin if you are on the Origin version of the game.

You can always try that. I don't use the Origin version so I have no idea how the patch works there.

Oh ok. So I don’t have to change the delay thing if the mod works for me right? And yeah, I’ve been playing ts3 for years and I definitely noticed how cas & build/buy mode load faster. Thank u for explaining :)

Is this a program (.exe) or actual mod file (.package)?
Kvinden Aug 11, 2021 @ 3:51am
Seems good. I'll give it a try as soon as possible.

Besides there are lots of good things on this site.
Finally I recovered my sims 2 disk, I think I'll play the game again using this story progression mod when I'll have some free time
