The Sims™ 3

Got a weird question, here
Ever since I got the Pets DLC, random animals have been coming into my Sims' yard. I don't really care about the wild horses, because they just usually run/walk through. No, it's the RACCOONS that cause problems. First time one showed up, it knocked over the garbage can. Is there a way to get them to leave beyond using the "Shoo" expression? I'm looking for something more dramatic.

Nraas mod.

It's either that or use the options menu to turn off the wild animals.

I used to get horses suddenly appearing inside my houses, and even get stuck. Then, there was a problem with a horse getting stuck in the floor of the gym. This happened to a number of my families. I should have just turned them off in the options menu, but I got so frustrated that I uninstalled Pets. That broke my game, and I had to do all sorts of stuff to get the game running again.

Pets is a favorite with many players, but it is not without its problems, especially when it comes to the spawning of wild animals. Turning those off in the Demographics section of Settings helps a bit, but only a bit. Raccoons and garbage cans are a persistent problem. You can sort of work around it by fencing off the garbage can in such a way that they can't get to it, but that will also prevent Sims in your household from getting to it. Gardens can be fenced off with a lockable gate and that will keep out deer (and zombies - plants and zombies don't get along well - joke Easter Egg from EA). Fences and high hedges will keep out horses most of the time, but I just turn them off.

I THINK it came with Pets(I have all EP's), but there is a lawn gnome with a sign that discourages animals from coming on the property and another that encourages them to come. I haven't started the game up in a long time so I can't recall what they were called though.

Interesting. I did some digging in old threads to see if this was true. None of them mentioned the different signs, but they did mention putting gnomes on their lots and still having trouble getting stray cats to come so they can be adopted.

They said they bought ALL of the gnomes, so I'm thinking they didn't notice that some had the signs, and they were giving the game conflicting messages by having both the encouraging sign and the discouraging sign at the same time.

All I can say with certainty regarding the gnomes in question is that the 2 with signs are actual inanimate lawn decorations, not like the 'living' Gnomes that teleport around your property and change positions on their own.

I just looked them up, there are 3 of them and the gnomes in question are called "Canine Stray Gnome", "Feline Stray Gnome" and "Wildlife Stray Gnome". They can be set to encourage or discourage creatures of their respective types from visiting the property they are on.
They do NOT affect the small catchable animals such as birds, snakes, lizards, and squirrels however.

Nice information. Thank you.

Then how do I get these specific gnomes? They sound like they might be the answer.

They should be available to purchase, if not then open the game's control panel (I think it was ctrl+shift+c but not sure I'm remembering right) and enter "testingcheatsenabled true"press "Enter" to use the code, followed by "buydebug" and pressing "Enter" to use it. They will be then by available to purchase...along with everything else in the game including the various public buildings. If you had to use the buydebug you can disable it and the ability to enter cheat codes in general by typing those in again, though with "false" in place of the "true".

you can use nraas for a modded way to get rid of them, there are also decorative gnomes that come with the pack under decorations and sculptures that tell stray animals to stay away from the lot when you activate them in live mode by clicking on them. :VBOY:
There is gnomes for turning off wild cats and dogs coming into your home
