1 - In order to get the codes out of Steam for an Origin for Mac install for TS3, it is required to use the Origin for Windows client program. Not to install, just to log in and retrieve the codes one time. Origin for Mac won't show them.
2 - The original 32-bit Mac version of the game still has a 2 GB RAM limit. Many of us find that far too restrictive to gameplay. The Windows version will use up to just under 4 GB, if the game reaches places where it calls for that much and if the RAM is available. The Mac version will just crash or Error 12 upon trying to save (or both) if 2 GB isn't enough for each session or ongoing game save.
3 - The new (Oct 2020) 64-bit Mac version requires a Mac capable of running the Metal API. Not an issue for modern Macs, but older ones going back far enough (how far depends on the model) will not be able to run it. This version removes the RAM limits but in exchange introduces instability and a LOT of in-game glitches and things that just don't function that players on the Windows and older Mac version would never see. It's still pretty much a work in progress on EA's end, if they choose to fix it.
For many of us on Macs, Bootcamp remains the better way to go for TS3 at least for now.
