The Sims™ 3

The Sims™ 3

so will this game get discount on black friday or christmas?
Ever since the games price has been lowered down to a more normal price (which should've been that since 6 years, whenever Sims 4 came out) the game received 0 discounts.

norway and other prosperous countries have to pay somewhat less than us Hungarians, we have to pay same amount as Denmark, Germany and places like that, and Russians can buy dirt cheap even though its not that worse to live there

it was somewhat better when gift trading was still possible, in 2012-2013-2014, so games could be bought for a more realistical price, which Valve just straight made impossible, which would've been fine if they would've balanced the region pricing..... Like, receiving somewhat cheaper prices like Norway does would be pretty nice

All we can do is look at the history and guess. TS3 went on deep discount, like 70-85% off usually for everything but sometimes selectively for the base game vs. packs, here on Steam 4x/year for ages right up through 2019. Two of the sales would be surprises and very short, two of them would be each of winter (late Dec?/early Jan) and Summer (end of June), each for a couple of weeks. But they skipped us in June 2020, which is right around when TS4 was first released for Steam after a slight (counting on fingers) almost six year delay. We don't really know if that event triggered being skipped.

You should be able to put the game and the packs you want on your wishlist so you will be notified if there is a sale of any kind.

And if you can afford it and want to play TS3 now, you might consider paying full price for the base game only and wait on the Expansion Packs to see if/when there is a sale. The base game alone for TS3 does provide a pretty decent amount of gameplay.

Disclaimer: I'm really only assuming that the sales, when they do occur, will show up for other countries but I suppose it's possible that some of them may be/have been US specific.

I have the game downloaded(base game is legit, and well, doing whatever everyone else is doing as well expansion wise, since the discount price would be ok imo, 5 euro or 1700 Ft or HUF or Forint), and yeah I used to play the game with base game only, was pretty decent, though it was annoying when you couldn't watch the stars from telescope

I want to get it on Steam to clock the hours and such, like it would give some kind of indication or whatever, beside the achievements on the sims3.com. The expansions can be useful for the simshop points I guess if they still do give 1500-2000 simpoints per expansion and 1000-1500 per stuff pack or smth, especially since I wasn't present years ago when they were giving away free stuff in the shop everyday.

Also I noticed in June that EA implemented trading cards as well, them implementing achievements would be extremely epic
The offers for 1,000 for each new registration of the base game and WA are still being honored. Some players do get the points for registering the other EPs, but I don't think that's intentional and it probably can't be relied upon for everyone.

Quite a few of us changed gears a few years ago and leveraged the sales, when we had them, to switch gameplay over to Steam so as to avoid Patch 1.69 and its Origin related annoyances.
Damn I am glad to hear, and well, sad that it ain't intentional beside those two, EA could still inspire some fans to get the steam version that way.

I never heard of the Origin annoyances, I have pyshical version IRL, but I just preferred to download it via other source.

Well I can't wait to have the Steam version, I am using the NRAAS mods since 2016 or 2017 I think, well, Overwatch and Errortrap, made the game more playable on my Q6600 and improves the efficiency for the Ryzen 2600
The only sale related to The Sims 3 that I remember on Origin since 2014 was last year when they discounted SimPoints for one day for the 10th anniversary of the game. That is the only one I know of in the last 6 years since the release of TS4. And as far as I know base game and expansions never went on sale, so there was only one discount for one day, only for SimPoints, in those 6 years on Origin (correct me if I am wrong). I wouldn't be surprised if the game doesn't go on sale on Steam ever again because TS4 is here and they are probably trying to push that instead. Hopefully I am wrong.

Also, for me the price was increased by 2.18 times when the price change happened so not everyone had a "positive" change sadly.

Origin had occasional 50% sales ($10 rather than the usual $20) on TS3 stuff in the year or so following TS4's release, but I haven't seen anything in the past three years while they have been actively pushing TS4 and its stuff. The last time I remember EA having a major discount on any TS3 stuff (more than 50% off) was in 2015.
I think there could be sale on official resellers sites and Amazon for Origin version. EA is pushing constantly Sims 4. Its only my opinion but i think Sims 3 will not get discount.
well, luckily Sims 3 was discounted a lot during that time until it got its price reduced to a still bad price... oh its actually the price it had around 2010-12 in retaiil, with a box and everything. I bought the barnacle bay edition, there was WA combo too, I regretted it cuz WA would've been better cuz its, yeah I just really like to do the adventures and them having some surprising turns here and there plus the interesting cities.

Either way, I would've regretted both, cuz those became Origin versions, not steam ones, so I regretted buying the physhical version....

I rather prefer getting steam version than Origin one, and its in no correlation with the comments here, but yeah, it seems sinister that EA hasn't been discounting Sims 3 cuz of SIms 4.
Like, there are people who like 3 and 4, different tastes, they were and are afraid that 3 is better?

I mean it is better, it doesn't look like Overwatch or Paladins, Sims 4 has cartoon like graphics, while Sims 3 looks good.

is there are a chance of it being discounted on black friday or atleast Christmas?
I'll be disappointed if it doesnt go on sale, but not really surprised. It seems they wanna push players to get the sims 4 and dont offer any more discounts for the sims 3, not even in their own store. Also, the sims 3 remains overpriced even on third party sellers. It's a real shame, because I couldn't play TS3 during its time because my computer was terrible. Now that I could play it, the prices are pretty unfair.
(kinda offtopic, plus retro, so sry)
I was lucky, I mean, I got to know Sims 3 cuz my fathers collegaue was installing Windows 7 on the new pc, cuz it was assembled in 2007 and installed a new PSU cuz the one before was wack.

It had Q6600, PX8600(basically 256 MB GDDR3), 3 GB of RAM, 500 GB Winchester

And the collegeau putted on Sims 3, Starcraft 2, it was 2010, so those two games were the new strategy games at the time, and Heroes of MIght and Magic 5, I liked all three, ofc I preferred Sims 3 and Stacraft 2.

And it all EP-s up to and including Late Night, it was real fun for me at 10-11 years of age, like I really wanted to play it I think, I didn't really like Sims 2 before when I was 7 and my aunt showed it to me. My first ever city was bridgeport, and house was the one in the lone woodhouse next to the bridge. Was good as f

(not offtopic below this part)

And damn Fallout(I need to buy 3 on this account, I only have New Vegas)? Well people hate on Bethesda about Fallout 4 and 76, but they do a real good job and pricing Fallout 1 and 2, 3, New Vegas, 4, they do regular discounts, they dont discriminate against their older titles
No sale for Sims 3 as expected, Sims 4 got discount.
i hate sims 4 and i won't buy it. I'm trying to complete my Sims 3 collection. But unfortunately, this is not possible due to the country I live in, except during discount times. I wish they had a discount… They do not do it to force us to sims 4... This is very sad… I'm in love with sims 3…

Same man, I and my best friend are Sims 3 lovers as well, Sims 4 looks like cartoon, Sims 3 is just the best

EA really should reconsider their discount policy or do they think everybody would just get Sims 3?
Sims 4 -88 percent omg... EA... I won't get that game, give that for Sims 3
This sucks, I was hoping to buy it on Steam during the autumn sale. I'll wait for the Winter sale in case they decide to include TS3.
