Lifetime Happiness Points
How do these things work? From what I've been able to gleam, they kinda sound like some micro-transaction thing. But something tells me that isn't the case. Can anyone tell me?

Sims gain LTH points by being content (happy) at varying rates as the game clock ticks by depending on the meter that goes all the way up to Elated. They also earn them by fulfilling promised dreams/wishes for points that vary between 100 on the low end to several thousand depending on the complexity and difficulty level of the wish. A sim who fulfills their Lifetime Wish (LTW) stands to collect tens of thousands of points; most of them are around 30,000.

The points can then be cashed in for Lifetime Rewards (LTRs). The LTR interface opens up when your sim has enough points for the lowest level redemption. Some of the LTRs are admittedly silly, but some of them are very useful and can help a sim as they progress through their lives.

So it is a micro-transaction system in a way, but not one that involves real money.

Thanks for that, but now I've got a related question. I've heard that one of the Lifetime Reward allows you to choose a new Lifetime Wish if you have a sim that's completed theirs. I'm currently IN that situation right now, so I would like to know if that's indeed true.

No, without mods you can't change the Lifetime Wish if the first one is already completed. The LTR that allows for that won't show up.

But you can use MasterController (MC Cheats module required) to grant a sim a second LTW after completion of the first one.

I’m sorry I’m new to all of Steam, but I jus downloaded sims 3 and as soon as I get a sim created the game crashes and makes me start all over. Any suggestions? Or could you link me to a discussion that may be able to help? Again sorry for off topic but this is the first thing I was able to find

There are two ways you could get help. The first would be to search for Steam discussions about this issue. Make sure you're in the right forum for what you want to know, as Steam has a LOT of different forums. There's a search bar next to the list of discussion threads, and typing in "Crashing" should help you. If that provides no help, then the next best way you could get help would be to ask this question with your own thread. Click on "Start New Discussion", ask your question, then click on Post Comment. Those two approaches are considered the most polite things to do in these circumstances, no matter what Steam forum you're in.

Thank you, like I said I wasn’t trying to step on toes with my post. Just saw this was active so figured I would ask from here. Sorry!

No problem, as you now know what you need to do.

One last question: Is there a Lifetime Reward that enables you to re-choose your sim's traits? I know there's one that enables you to change your sim's favorites, but what about the basic traits?

Mid-Life Crisis (20,000) - Select and change your sim traits (this one needed to be young adult onward).
Change of Taste (5,000) - Select and change your sim favorites (i think this one needed World Adventures pack to buys).

I'll try the Mid-Life Crisis one. Thanks for the help, everyone!
