Generally, use "Save As..." rather than save. It could also help to run the NRaas ErrorTrap mod to cut down on save game issues.

IIRC, code 12 is you're running out of memory (RAM) while trying to save due to the file being too large. "Save" alone adds onto the previously-existing file, making it continue to grow over time, getting larger and larger and having more errors in it over time. "Save as" creates a fresh file. Never never never use "Save and quit".

I have 8GB ram so I know its not my ram. I also tried saving while in edit town which seem to have fixed it. im going starting saving as and making new game saves everytime I save.

Glad Edit Town works, too. I'll keep that in mind.

With Save As, you can use the same file name every time (though I like to alternate through three saves just so I have some backups if things go wrong). The important part is just the difference in how the save is made - "save" with appending, and "save as" with creating a new file.

As to having 8GB RAM, note that a 32-bit program (as Sims 3 is) can't use more than about 3.5 GB RAM. It thinks it's out of RAM, because it's reached its limit (not your computer's limit).

I play in alpine county not sure if that’s causing it as well since it is a very large world. I don’t really wanna move to another world if I can help it cause Alpine county is one of my favourite worlds. Also after I saved from edit town I tried saving again from live mode and it saved straight away without giving error 12.

Excellent. Yeah, there are 2 out-of-memory errors, 12 and 13. 12 is about the world using up all the RAM, and 13 is for other parts.

Tho, I do think if you keep up with the "Save as" you should be OK.

I’m keep using save as and put different names in them. My game does also crash sometimes in alpine county not sure what’s causing it. I know it’s not my computer cause I have a fairly good computer.

Are you using the Overwatch mod?

The error 12 has come back again even in edit town and clicking save as.

You might be right in that the world you're using is just too large, especially if you go a long time between saves.

Here is a list of things that you can try to fix it:

I found out that the in game memorys were causing the saving errors and I used the nrass master controller to remove all of them and then afterwards I didnt get the error 12.

It hasn’t shown up once since clearing out all the memories for all the sims in my town. My game has also only crashed once today and I’m still playing in alpine county, which I know my computer is good enough to handle.
